The far-right wingnuts hate this 10-year-old girl’s case. They hate it like death because it proves up the utter stupidity and inhumanity of the Ohio laws. When it first broke, the right-wing media and elected officials and pundits cast doubt on the story, and the Wall Street Journal described it as “too good to be confirmed.” It became international news, and then again yesterday when the alleged rapist was arrested in Columbus. Jim Jordan called it all a lie, which put him back on the hot seat he always returns to.

Alas, it’s no lie and deal with it they must, because the right-wingnuts literally have no choice. The president of the far-right anti-abortion, anti-choice organization Americans United for Life testified Thursday before the House. She ludicrously claimed that the 10-year-old girl who was forced to travel to Indiana for an abortion after being raped did not actually get an abortion.

She gave some cock and bull story that since the 10-year-old’s life would be impacted, endangered, some gibberish, that an abortion under these circumstances is not an abortion. This you have to hear.

“I believe it would probably impact her life and so therefore, it would fall under any exception and would not be an abortion.” Whut?

This double-speak and walking back is something. It would be comical if the human costs weren’t absolutely staggering.

Speaking of Jim Jordan, the media made him do it. Yep.

These people are so lame. So incredibly, unutterably, inalterably, intoleably and interminably lame. They will never change.

  1. The UnSupreme Court (TFG is not the only person who can add un- to words) were so short-sighted, did not want experts to inform them of consequences, that this was inevitable. Other horror stories, where nearly everyone would condone abortion, are surely going to follow.

    The Indiana AG and Faux Noise have now doxxed the doctor providing the abortion, putting her life in danger. These people never learn. Bill O’Reilly should have been prosecuted for his focus on Dr. Tiller.

    I guess the bottom line is these rethugs didn’t want this story to be true, because it proves how truly bad they are as humans.

    Hey, I’m just an old white guy who never had kids but I’ve known plenty of women in my life who have, as well as their partners. I can say with assurance that even when a pregnancy is wanted, planned for, hoped and even prayed for it DOES impact that woman’s life. And not just during the pregnancy itself. So, if a woman’s life is impacted by a pregnancy then what? THIS is why the zealots are probably freaking out at the woman who made that statement, and DON’T want this being discussed openly. Because every pregnancy has a huge impact on a woman who is pregnant. It’s life changing, in more ways than I’ll get into here, even if the decision is made early on to give a child up for adoption as soon as it’s born.

    Until recently, women anywhere in this country had (in theory – in practice many states made it extremely difficult) a right to choose whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term. It was a private decision, and yes the impact of just the pregnancy alone was enough that many women availed themselves of the CHOICE to terminate the pregnancy. So that it would NOT impact their lives either in the short-term, the long-term or both.

    I’ve often said that most of those screaming the loudest in opposition to abortion would utilize the option under many circumstances including “image.” It’s a helluva lot easier than the old “extended vacation” thing people of means would sometimes do. But those holier than thou types, especially the ones in the anti-abortion movement organizations, politicians and talking heads had and always will have the means to partake in medical tourism for birth control/family planning and yes, ABORTION. Because they know damn well circumstances might make abortion something they wanted and not always for medical reasons like the life and health of the mother. It has and will continue to be used by these self-righteous hypocrites to keep up their fucking IMAGE.

    This gal is in a world of shit right now for saying out loud something everyone knows but the anti-abortion folks don’t want to admit. Good. This needs to be out in the open. It needs to be acknowledged that pregnancy is something that is life altering, even if the woman (or child as in this case) isn’t going to keep the baby after it’s born.

    And given how big a deal carrying a pregnancy to term is, a woman who finds herself pregnant but who would have her life (and perhaps even health) negatively affected should have the RIGHT to CHOOSE whether or not to continue with that pregnancy or to terminate it. Just like the woman who made that statement goddamned well would in some circumstances – rationalizing that because of the effect it would have on her it “wasn’t really an abortion.”

    I say to the anti-abortion folks if you don’t want to have one then don’t have one. It’s that simple. But more importantly, mind your own fucking business and keep YOUR beliefs out of other people’s private lives and decisions on whether or not to have a child. And don’t go talking about God’s will and all that bullshit. Because if you insist you are carrying it out, then please, please cite me the passage in the scripture where Jesus or his Apostles speak against abortion. I say that knowing you CAN’T because the subject doesn’t come up! In Jesus’ time, as well as before and since abortion was practiced and everyone knew it. In THIS country it was practiced since before we were even a fucking country. No less than ole Ben Franklin himself had a well-known tonic widely used to induce abortion!

    Take your morality and shove it up your sanctimonious asses. Even with all the medical advances we’ve seen in my lifetime, the point of fetal viability outside the womb is still (as was the case when Roe was handed down) 23 weeks. Before that odds are overwhelming the fetus will die and for those handful that beat the odds their lives won’t be any picnic. Even after that 23 week mark things are still dicey for premature births, and that doesn’t even get into the question of what value to place on the life and health of the mother.

    It’s not the government’s business to get into those decisions. Neither is it the business of self-righteous assholes who insist on involving themselves in what are and of a right ought to be private, personal and significantly life impacting decisions.

    MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS ASSHOLES!

  6. They’re using “well, it’s not really an abortion if” to avoid the little problem that state laws are INTENDED to make it impossible to get one. Some don’t have ANY exceptions, and most have a time limit that is so early as to make them impossible. (Note to legislators: if you’re going to write bills about medical stuff, get real doctors to provide the necessary information, and not people who went to Google U.)
