Voters Abandon Trump As Political Ads Swamp the Airwaves

We are in the last sixty days of the 2024 campaign, today. This is the exact moment when that dormant creature known as the American Electorate, an ungainly beast to be sure, bestirs itself and wakes up from its four-year nap. The Electorate will be on high alert from now until November 5. It will cast its ballots and speak its mind and then go back to sleep for four more years. One thing the Electorate will note as it raises its weary head and shakes the sleep from its eyes, is the abundance of political ads against Donald Trump. Many are classics. What follows is a fifteen-minute compendium of some of the best ads but it is by no means comprehensive. There are plenty more out there and yet more to come in the next two months. In fact, as Kimberly Guilfoyle promised, “The best is yet to come.” You’re right, Kim, just not how you think.

1. Back when Joe Biden was still in the race, it wasn’t so much of a nail biter. Trump was said to be leading;
2. We have seen a consistent trend since the last week of July in favor of Harris/Walz. If that trend continues, as polls ramp up as they always do in the last 60 days of an election, then you will see a grim picture portrayed for Trump;
3. If Trump stays where he is right now and doesn’t lose any more ground, it’s still Harris/Walz who is favored to win;
4. There’s no reason to assume that Trump has somehow hit the point of no return and what’s here today is a stasis point. In fact, there’s every reason to believe that Harris/Walz will pull ahead if for no other reason than that they’re out compaigning and
5. Trump is golfing and going on Fox News, leaving all the heavy lifting to J.D. Vance.
6. Vance can’t do heavy lifting. Yes, he managed to lift the tray of root beer floats without dropping it, but that was barely.
7. Right now Vance is in a concurrent race with Ron DeSantis for the title Worse Republican Campaigner In History.
8. He’s giving DeSantis a hell of a run for the money in that race. For his sake, would that he could do the same in the race with Harris/Walz.
