Keep an eye on this over the days to come. In the days following the shooting tragedy at Robb Elementary, Uvalde school district police chief Pete Arredondo became a lightning rod. He was revealed to be the senior officer on the scene, the one who made the decision to downgrade the incident from an active shooter issue to a barricaded shooter scenario, keeping the 19 officers outside the door important while negotiations were attempted.

It has only gotten worse for Arredondo in the following days. After talking to DPS investigators in the days following the shooting, Arredondo has now lawyered up and refused to cooperate. Worse yet, it was reported today that Arredondo had ordered his 6 man police force to quit cooperating with Texas investigators.

But here’s the kicker. A couple of weeks ago, Arredondo was elected to a spot on the Uvalde city council. The swearing in of members was due to take place today at an open city council meeting. Over the weekend, the town announced that the city council meeting had been canceled.

This rang hollow to local reporters. Regulations required that the city council be sworn in on this particular day. After dogged reporting, and dealing with an outside PR firm firm by the city, they were able to confirm that Arredondo had been sworn in in a private ceremony with the rest of the city council.

Look, I’m not going to say a single word about Pete Arredondo, history will deal with him as this continues to unfold. But the city council of Uvalde, Texas has to be run by the single biggest bunch of knotheads that I’ve ever come across in my life! No shit, these people are on another planet.

You have a grade school massacre in which the school district police chief is proven to have been manifestly incompetent. Parents on the scene were taped showing them fighting with cordon officers to get in the school and save their children. And it turns out that the same manifestly incompetent police chief had been elected to the city council. And then the city council cancels the scheduled public meeting to swear in the new members, ony to have it revealed that they held a secret meeting to do the same thing.

Is this city council insane?! Grieving parents and families, along with the entire community are enraged at the decisions bade by the school police chief. And then the city council cancels a public meeting to swear in new members, and then holds a secret a secret meeting to swear in the police chief instead? All I know is that I don’t want to be a Uvalde city council member the next time they decide to hold a public meeting. This is going to be ugly, and may well make the national news. I predict rough times ahead for the Uvalde city council.

  1. Well since this assclown has decided he will not assist authorities’ investigations, and not offering information to clear all of this up, the authorities have no recourse but to file charges with state attorneys for 19 cases of negligent homicide and let the chips fall where they may.

    It was his choice.

  2. I’m a gun owner. I have been to safely classes, and so have my grandchildren, I don’t need a high capacity gun, to protect myself, and the second amendment isn’t being read correctly, in my opinion

    • Scalia pulled his opinion, and that is ALL it is, out of his fat ass. We’re seeing the same from that grease ball Alito. No basis for what he wrote in that draft except for the dreck exuding from his derriere.

    • I absolutely trust a person named Atha Maffei to make that call. What other Constitutional rights can we interpret based on this standard? Does the media need a dedicated 24 hour cable station rather than a Gutenberg moveable typeface press to disseminate news? Do women and blacks need to be able to vote? Do we need speedy trials,I mean, isn’t just having a trial enough? Why does anyone need to be able to practice atheism, Islam, or Hinduism in America, why not just Christianity? Do gays NEED to be able to protest?

      • All women know that human rights are women’s rights even though dead Scalia and unwise gov Abbott think people have no power. I agree that a mess was made at Ulevade and a head needs to roll but the city council may live to regret not hiring intelligent, educated Law Enforcement. Voters can fix this in November at the ballot box and/or protest with vigor. I think I might go with defund local government until local government proves its worthiness.

  3. Ordering other officers not to cooperate with an investigation? Isn’t that a classic case of obstruction of justice? And will Texas authorities cave to preserve solidarity within the state’s law enforcement ranks? Wait till federal agents show up!

  4. They’re about to have an insurrection? So a bunch of old boomers are going to do a self-guided tour through the City Council building, get shot by the police for legally protesting, and then go home as soon as the police tell them to,then get subjected to the most extensive political prosecution effort in history and go to jail and suffer unjustifiable beatings by the guards and other human rights abuses of the sort that the US topples foreign leaders for?
