I’ve given a lot of thought to this.
Trump believes what he wants to believe. But we’ve also done a million stories on the fact that people who approach him (Aides, admirers, employees) all know that they must pump his ego by lying if necessary. Recall him saying that one prominent pollster told him he would beat Washington and Lincoln on the same ticket? Saying he was considered the best president of all time? That world leaders all told him that the United States is respected again because it’s strong? There is not a question in my mind that he did hear these things. If you were MBS, wouldn’t you tell him he’s turned the U.S. around? It’s the quickest way to rob America blind. If you are an employee or an aide, wouldn’t you emphasize all that’s great about him right before you ask for a raise?
It’s like giving a kid a cookie and telling the four-year-old that she got it because she’s the smartest girl on the entire planet and smart kids are quiet.
Maybe it isn’t quite the same with news channels and ratings, but close enough. The people around him will tell him he is more popular than ever, but the media hates him, and that’s why some ratings are down (I am not even presuming any ratings are down, Trump believes they are, and that’s the point). Trump cheers for people suffering if they have in any way inconvenienced him or said a mean thing about him. He would be happy to hear they went broke and thousands lost their job. Look at Twitter.
So that’s Trump’s message this New Year’s Eve when most people sort of either celebrate a new year coming in (God only knows how happy I am to leave 2022 in smoldering ruins), and often reflect on how to make next year better. Trump viciously spreads his hate. At least this time, it seemed evenly proportioned. Everyone is failing because they are failing to worship him.
Wow!!! So while Trump Hating CNN & MSNBC (MSDNC!) RATINGS are both at record lows, numbers that they have never seen before (“they’re toast”), Fox News Ratings are also way down because they never say “Trump” or TRUTH, never talk about the Rigged Presidential Election, and is a Fake Polling Network. Our giant MAGA base, much bigger than anyone knows, does not like watching Fox play their games. Their Ratings will continue to sink. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Psychologists around the world have ripped up chapters on “narcissism” and now just have highlights and quotes from Trump. He is saying the entire media landscape revolves around him, personally, and his “giant MAGA base,” (The one that’s lost three elections in a row and counting) is bigger than anyone knows. Guaranteed. If Fox made money covering Trump and covering up for Trump, coverage would be 24/7 Trump, as we’ve seen before. If ratings are down, it is because no one under 30 watches television anymore. Have you met a 22-year-old? I know that 15-year-olds threaten to call the Red Cross to report a crime against humanity if their phone isn’t working or is left behind.
“Television” to kids is that giant computer on the wall that doesn’t play whatever you want whenever you want and often has programs that go WAY more than a minute. It sucks.
It’s not all about Trump. But happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! Trump is on the important stuff! People suffering! Yeah, baby!

They’ve been profiting from the former guy’s “news-making” for years, and now he’s not the big news any more (at least, not until he’s perp-walked), he’s unhappy.
He is so unhappy that it’s almost impossible to believe that he doesn’t have serious health problems but I don’t believe he does. He’s run on anger and excitement all his life.

I get this a lot. The problem is it is a false premise.
He is the most relevant politician on the Right, by far. McConnell has more power. DeSantis may be more electable, but in the end, Trump still has more power to move the Right in any direction he chooses. The direction he’s chosen is horrific and should be monitored bc that’s the direction America firsters want to go.
Second, he is relevant in that he could easily be the first ex-president and declared presidential candidate indicted. That makes his response to the Committee/ etc., important.
Third, he can provide a good laugh. People say they’re tired of hearing about him, but the numbers are perfectly clear. They most certainly are not, and they want to hear the important and laugh at him.
It is something I’ve given a lot of thought to, but number one remains the first and most important reason. It now seems as though he’s going to partner with Musk on some things as they get closer.
That is my response. He most certainly isn’t “going away” anyway.
