Trump’s Capone Fan Boy: ‘He Could Kill You If You Didn’t Smile Right’

I wonder how strange the 2024 election is going to be when all is said and done? A candidate for our highest office rhapsodizing about the brutality of America’s most famous criminal seems a bit off, but not when you consider the source. Donald Trump loves dictators and gangsters. He wants to be one of them. And he is particularly enamored of fellow New Yorker and Floridian Alphonse Capone.

Trump brought up Capone during his remarks in Reno, Nevada, where he’s getting an early start on the GOP primary. That is presupposing that the ritual of the primary continues. It’s known at this point that Nikki Haley hasn’t registered, Ron DeSantis’ campaign had yet another catastrophic implosion this weekend when chief strategist Jeff Roe quit on the spot, and Vivek Ramaswamy is too busy entertaining at the MAGA convention this week to pay much mind to trivialities like continuing his presidential campaign. Chris Christie will show up if he’s qualified to speak in front of a microphone. He’s been consistent in that regard. Meanwhile, here’s Trump playing Capone fan boy.

“For bullshit I got indicted.” And that’s how he sees it. He doesn’t see removing classified documents as being anything of significance, nor refusing to give them back when told to do so. As for inciting an insurrection, hey, he was just channeling his inner Cecil B. DeMille. He just wanted to see how far the MAGAs would go when he told them to riot and then he watched it on TV.

It’s all surreal to Trump, just something out of a dream and he is greatly dismayed to find out that there are legal consequences for these actions. Whudda thot?

Here’s one of his better lies. He’s blaming John McCain for “voting against it” a health care plan to replace Obamacare. The only problem here is that no such plan existed.

It goes on like this and it will continue to go on like this for the next year. Again, he’s at a Trump rally, so he’s in a bubble. Let’s see him spew this bilge in a situation where he’s not surrounded by sycophants but by normal human beings, preferably ones armed with facts. He will melt like the Wicked Witch.

And remember, this is the best that the GOP can come up with in the year 2024. This is the same guy who took them down in flames in 2018, 2020, 2022 and he will do it again, but this is still the best they’ve got.

Self destruction at this level is an incredible thing to watch. And let me be clear, we should not be complacent. We need to Get Out The Vote because we can’t afford to have these lunatics anywhere near our institutions again. We dodged the bullet once. If they get back in, they’ll stay in.
