Trump Thinks We Should Just Have The Popular Vote: Sure! Can We Go Back to 2016??

On Thursday, President Donald Trump voiced his support for doing away with the Electoral College for presidential elections in favor of a popular vote because the latter would be “much easier to win.”  Easier to win for the guy who didn’t win the popular vote?

During this excerpt from his morning rant, he says, “I would rather have a popular election, but it’s a totally different campaign.  It’s as though you’re running — if you’re a runner, you’re practicing for the 100-yard dash as opposed to the 1-mile.”

A bold claim for someone who continues to be glitteringly unpopular. Just a reminder (since it’s such a great memory!), Hillary Clinton beat him in the popular vote by almost 3 million votes.

The only Republican in recent history to win the national popular vote was George W. Bush in 2004, so given this track record, I have to say I support Donald Trump on this one.

Maybe Americans could get someone in office that we actually want next time?
