It can only be assumed that Donald Trump doesn’t want anybody to know what went on in the White House circa January 6. He seems hell bent to prevent disclosure. This is a breaking story and more details will be released as they become available. Politico:

Donald Trump is suing the Jan. 6 select committee and the National Archives to block the release of his White House’s records related to the Capitol attack.

The former president’s lawyers filed the suit in D.C. district court on Monday. It names the Jan. 6 panel’s chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), and the national archivist, David Ferriero, along with the committee and the archives. And it calls the Jan. 6 probe “a vexatious, illegal fishing expedition.”

Meanwhile Trump is sending out histrionic emails telling his supporters that he needs $45 from each one of them in order to overturn the election.

Just another money Monday in Trump World.

  1. This suit is vexatious litigation. The former guy isn’t president and can’t claim executive privilege…and he *was* president on 1/6, and the committee is interested in what he knew and when he knew it.

  2. Problem is he uses the rules to his advantage. By the time this gets sorted out in the courts it could be 2025. Same thing happened with his attorney testifying. Dragged it out & America had bought 6 new versions of phones by then. It should be obvious he did this. WE ALL SAW & HEARD IT IN REAL TIME. Let a black man do something in broad daylight over & over & see if it’s delayed for years. He’s already CLEARLY broken a number of federal laws as Glenn kirschner, a former federal prosecutor, has pointed out, yet no charges. This system is evil. Persecutes the poor. Rewards the rich no matter what they do. Anyone who doesn’t admit this I’m afraid you’re either rich, an attorney, or an evil idiot.

    • The courts are more likely to toss the suit: they didn’t subpoena the former guy, so he’s a third party. He isn’t president, so he doesn’t have executive privilege, which anyway belongs to the office he no longer holds, not to the person.
