Trump Says No Bombing In Middle East. He’s the Record Holder!

Donald Trump does not have a particularly expansive memory. While I know President Joe Biden is currently being scrutinized for having a few senior moments — which, considering the fact that he’s 81 years old, shouldn’t be surprising. But either Trump is having a huge senior moment or he’s trying to weave another fanciful story. Or maybe he’s told so many lies so many times that he has come to believe they are true. I don’t know.

Whatever the case is, speechifying in front of Mar-a-Lago Thursday, Trump called the U.S. dropping bombs on the Middle East “unnecessary.” This is ironic, when you consider the fact that during his time in the White House, Trump set records for the massive numbers of bombs he dropped on Syria and Afghanistan, MeidasTouch reminds us.

“All [Biden] knows how to do is drop bombs all over the place,” Trump said. “meaningless bombs, except they kill a lot of people. Cost a lot of money. every time you see a bomb it’s a million dollars, and it actually sets us back. we had peace through strength. this should not be happening. the middle east is blowing up…a lot of people are being killed and it’s so unnecessary.”

But Trump didn’t think it was unnecessary during his time in the White House. When he ordered bomb strikes on Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and other countries. And the number of U.S. drone strikes skyrocketed by 400 percent when Trump took office. Even worse, it stayed at that rate throughout his time in office. At least 65 U.S. troops and hundreds of thousands of civilians lost their lives in wars overseas during Trump’s presidency.

This is why I appreciate MeidasTouch. Because they tell Trump like he is. This evil man and his minions continually rewrite history to make him look good and this is especially true of his record in the Middle East by claiming there were “no wars” under Trump, and that we had “peace through strength.”

Yeah, no. We didn’t.

Al-Jazeera, citing the US Air Force, noted in January 2020 that U.S. forces in Afghanistan dropped a record number of bombs in 2019. Indeed, the U.S. dropped 7,423 bombs on targets in Afghanistan in 2019, a rise from 2018, when the U.S. dropped a mere 7,362 munitions, according to the US Air Forces Central Command in a report later that year.

And if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the U.S. is a bomb-y country. Our presidents love them bombs, they do. As Salon reported in January 2022, the U.S. drops an average of 46 bombs per day. And when you look at the numbers over time, they don’t look any better. During a period of 20 years, the U.S. and allied air forces dropped more than 337,000 bombs and missiles on other countries.

“that’s an average of 46 strikes per day for 20 years,” salon reports. “this endless bombardment has not only been deadly and devastating for its victims but is broadly recognized as seriously undermining international peace and security and diminishing america’s standing in the world.”

I’m confident that Donald Trump becoming president also didn’t help our standing in the world. When he and his flying monkeys try to pretend they didn’t attack other countries you have to wonder how stupid these people think the rest of us are. Of course, I realize politicians lie. That’s become par for the course, but Trump has taken this and made it all his own, all wrapped up in an orange bow. He’s a tangerine cake with lies on top.

He spun this latest nonsensery in a statement to reporters following the oral arguments in the Supreme Court case to remove him from the Colorado ballot in response to the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment.
