It was only a matter of time. I thought he would wait until after the polls closed next week and then, win or lose start being so blunt. However Trump couldn’t help himself, and went from general calls for punishment of specific political enemies to graphic ‘shoot em in the face’ rhetoric against the person one might argue is his biggest enemy. Not (yet) Kamala Harris but another woman who has tormented him for years now. Trump sat there with Tucker Carlson and said Liz Cheney should be stood up with a rifle – and have NINE rifles shooting at her face!

Now, Trump and his enablers will make excuses. They’ll say he was ‘making a joke’ or just talking metaphorically. I call bullshit. What Trump said is EXACTLY what he’d like to see happen. Given SCOTUS’ immunity decision he know knows he could get away with it.  However anyone who doesn’t believe he hopes some deranged MAGA(s) out there will see/hear this and say to themselves ‘Trump is telling me what to do. And he will pardon me if I do it for him!’ is kidding themselves.

I did some checking for articles about this. I wasn’t the least bit surprised to see the Washington Post story had a softish headline: “Trump says Liz Cheney might not be such a ‘war hawk’ if she had guns pointed at her” and the story initially did some ‘explaining’ to cover for Trump. It’s a short story and eventually did include the part of the discussion where Trump called Cheney “a deranged person.” He went on to talk about her always wanting to go to war and the U.S. being in 50 different countries if it was up to her.  Then Trump really revealed his thinking:

After calling Cheney “a very dumb individual,” he said: “She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with the rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK, let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face.

Again, tell me Trump isn’t calling for one or more of his MAGAs to take him literally. This is after all the same person who spent weeks calling for supporters to come to DC to ‘take back our country’ including comments about the rally to amp them up such as ‘It will be wild’, then had a couple of hours of warmup speakers incite that crowd before taking the stage himself and saying it was time to march to the Capitol – and that he’d be leading them!  Trump assembled and incited a riotous mob and aimed it at the Capitol as Congress was meeting to carry out a ceremonial duty of counting the Electoral Votes. For three f**king hours he sat in the WH enjoying the spectacle on TV. His very own ‘Reichstag Fire’ if you will.

Of course he’s calling on supporters to take matters into their own hands. Trump however is no Shakespeare so no fancy ‘Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?” language. No, Trump just blurts out talk about how Cheney (and soon will name others) should be ‘shot in the face’ by nine rifles – aka known as a Firing Squad!  Oh well, we can count on the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and others to allow articles that soft peddle this. And platform Trump enablers who will say he ‘wasn’t being literal’ – over the top a bit in rhetoric they’ll say but actually mean what he said? Oh no they’ll say. “No way Trump would actually WANT that.’  Again, I call bulllshit.

This talk is going to get darker, more violent and in a word WORSE as the days and weeks go by. Being soundly defeated next week at the polls won’t stop Trump from shooting off his fat, ugly mouth. But if we do our part and do in fact send him down to a resounding defeat then by god his THREATS should be treated as such via state and federal laws!

  1. Firing squad? Well, perhaps. He wants them aimed at the wrong person however. The J-6 traitors should be up against the wall–ALL of them starting with their leader and ALL the planners. Unfortunately, we do not execute people for treason any more. That said, why ALL of these traitors are not in prison is one of garland’s more asinine decisions.

I do hope that when V.P. Harris becomes President Harris and the reactionary morons try to disrupt ANYTHING relating to this election that the planners and participants DO get thrown in the slammer for treason: just gather them all up and throw them in the pokey without the opportunity to make bail-they are flight risks after all. And if it just so happens a couple of s.c. squatters have wives in this little hootenanny, well then certainly charges must be filed against them as well. I do not believe for a second there wasn’t any pillow-talk going on.

  2. Actually I think his description of Chaney is more accurately a description of MTG. I kind of confounds me that anyone he strongly disagrees with is “dumb”.

    • Especially women. Let’s be honest: had he not been rich and able to buy women, he’d still be a virgin. He is dumb, charmless and misogynistic.
Cadet Bonspurs,,whose Daddy bought him.a deferment, can pound sand with MBS.

  3. This IS VERY troubling, any open threat to a member of Congress is supposed to be a signal of a criminal intent and NOT some, “But really He was,”, He should immediately be sequestered in a lock-down for the safety of all citizens, that he might list for a hit job … ANY place would work, as long as his phone was taken away and visitor list was severely limited …

It would be the humanitarian thing to do, for his own protection as he is showing defined signs of memory loss, physical impediment, socially unacceptable rhetoric and up to now, no real results for his actual mental/physical judgements from real doctors, something already in circulation for Kamala Harris …

His medical records SHOULD be made public, a REAL president would need to properly represent the USA, a tough road to follow as the International community already knows how flaky Trump is, turning on dimes if it suits his needs as the superman he dreams he is …

His value to the dictators out there has worn so thin, a handheld flashlight would show that Trump has no redeemable values left … If Trump had not lied with every breath, shown the least REAL sympathy or caring about anyone other than himself, instead of his drooling over young girls, attacking women at every bend in the road, having an obvious fixation on his own daughter, Oh, and a viral put-down of all those that gave their lives in battles, so that HE and the rest of us could vote for our next president without the fear of a mental midget like himself, sending his brown shirts out to get us …

    • Um, just a nitpick, but Cheney is NOT a member of Congress. She lost her primary bid in 2022 to a Trump supporter, Harriet Hageman. It really shouldn’t matter, of course, whether Cheney is or isn’t in Congress. If Cheney had made a comment about Trump should have nine guns in his face, she’d be visited by the Secret Service and possibly arrested for the threat. Trump should face the SAME penalty for his comment.
It’s making all that outrage over Kathy Griffin’s little stunt look really absurd.

  4. “Trump however is no Shakespeare so no fancy ‘Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?” language.”

Even Shakespeare wasn’t Shakespeare; he didn’t come up with the quote since he never did a play dealing with Henry II, the person to whom the quote is attributed. The first known source of that quote (and, the original quote used “turbulent” rather than “meddlesome”) is Robert Dodsley in 1740 (in his “Chronicles of the Kings of England). The “meddlesome” version appears to have originated in the 1964 film version of “Becket” (which was based on Jean Anouilh’s play, “Becket”–the quote used in the play is quite different: “Will no one rid me of him? A priest! A priest who jeers at me and does me injury.”).

At any rate, Henry II actually NEVER uttered the phrase–at least, not in English, as he only spoke and understood French and Latin. The common version (that you used) presumably sprang from the pen of Edward Anhalt (who wrote the screenplay for the 1964 film and earned an Oscar for his work).

  5. Biden should allocate a security detail to Cheney: simultaneously a public rebuke of DJT and a show of support for the rule of law + a sensible precaution

  6. Considering Dad paid off a podiatrist to get him a disability excuse,he should talk. He didn’t serve and has called McCain,a man I.heartily disliked but who served honorably, a loser for being shot down and who looked at the graves of those who died in WWI and II and said they were suckers and losers, –it was rich coming from.a draft dodger.
