Let’s talk about James Comey for a bit. He was an FBI Director. He isn’t a Kash Patel fbi director owned by Trump. He is an honorable man. Think about that for a moment. He is exactly what Kash Patel *isn’t*. Trump is out to get him because his fee-fees were hurt. Comey was supposed to shut down the “Russia, Russia, Russia” investigation, and he didn’t. Mueller stated he had no definite information of collusion, but that Russia *did* interfere on his behalf. So Trump got lucky and wiggled out of that one. Trump fired Comey and has continued to berate him in the years following and into his second term. From Raw Story:
Fox News’ Howard Kurtz stopped for a moment on Thursday evening to acknowledge the hard reality for the generally Donald Trump-supportive network: the president’s personally-influenced Justice Department indictment of former FBI Director James Comey flies in the face of all standards of how federal prosecutors are supposed to operate, or in fact would have been tolerated in any prior administration. Comey, who was initially fired near the beginning of Trump’s first term in office for refusing to intervene to shut down the Russia investigation, was indicted earlier in the day in Virginia, following Trump’s demands for it to happen.
Yes. Trump threatened Pam Bondi in an “accidental” post on Truth Social, which wasn’t an accident, to find something to use to indict Comey. We knew that was going to take some work. James Comey is an *honorable* man.
He didn’t shut down the investigation for a very good reason. It was made clear to Trump that *he* was not under investigation. The Mueller Report found nothing on Trump. Trump was probably nervous they would find something, and that speaks volumes about him and the possibility he was. So he calls it a hoax and fires Comey because he didn’t obey his commands.
The charges, of false statements and obstruction, appear to be based on a discrepancy between his and his deputy’s accounts in Senate questioning several years ago, which was already investigated by the inspector general and determined likely not to have been a lie. But Trump insisted on the prosecution anyway, and took a victory lap on his Truth Social platform after it was filed, writing, “JUSTICE IN AMERICA! One of the worst human beings this Country has ever been exposed to is James Comey, the former Corrupt Head of the FBI.”
Corrupt. Ha. To use the saying more often heard in high school, takes one to know one. Except we can be sure he was trying to redirect attention away from the Russia investigation. That probably didn’t last for more than a few days. It would go back to the investigation often. Trump has hammered on Comey for years. He should have given up on it. Instead, he brings it up and crows about not being indicted so he can make himself feel big. Whatever. At least it’s a distraction from Epstein, but for how long?
None of this is normal, Kurtz pointed out to his fellows on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier.” “Let’s not mince words here — I say this as a former Justice Department reporter,” said Kurtz. “This was completely and totally orchestrated by President Trump. He says he’s leaving it to Justice, but he very much out in the open — remember, he fired his own appointee as U.S. attorney in that part of Virginia, because he didn’t think there was enough evidence to bring this case. Brought in a White House aide, his former defense lawyer, whose job was to get this done, and apparently that has worked. In previous administrations, any hint of contact with a criminal case would be a scandal on its own,” he added. “And so President Trump, by the way he pulled the strings, has gotten his way with this initial indictment.”
It’s stunning that they were actually able to get an indictment. What kind of carefully doctored evidence was used? Perhaps we will find out. That would be rather fascinating. If nothing else, hopefully, Comey will post it. We do know he has retained a rather fancy lawyer who is probably rubbing his hands together with glee. He’s likely already digging into the information on these charges, and he’s certain to run across the investigation under an Inspector General who determined he did not lie. It’s going to be epic.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Four Russian officials have mysteriously died in the last three days. One was found hanging from a branch with his hands tied behind his back. One seeking asylum in Armenia, as he had dual citizenship, was found in a bathtub with his wrists cut. Why mention this? Just a warning to all those who think they have this dictator’s loyalty. He is only loyal to himself. Keep throwing out the truth, reason, democracy, and other irreplaceable ideas/institutions, and playing along. You may find, in the end, it’s YOUR head in the basket.
