I read a short article by Mediaite yesterday saying an FBI agent had been relieved for refusing to slap together a perp walk for former FBI Director James Comey. FYI no arrest warrant had even been issued, but rather only a summons to appear. Comey intends to do so next Thursday when he’s due to appear in court. NO ONE doubts he’ll show up. However, that’s not dramatic enough for our Reality Tee-Vee President and he’s by god DEMANDING a big, splashy show so it seems he and Krazy Kash Patel are working on exactly that.
This morning the same outlet, Mediaite has a new story reporting that Trumpy wants to make a bigly YUGE freaking deal about subjecting Comey to a “perp walk.” He’s probably having wet-dreams over how he’ll be able to use the footage on Truth Social. It’s likely Trump will get his way and there will be a ‘TV moment’ that will consume Fox News airwaves for at least a couple of days. If so, it could become an object lesson in Be careful what you wish for. I’ll get to that. First, let’s look at what’s going on:
On Friday night, CBS News reported that the FBI is considering a “showy” arrest of the 6’8″ Comey, complete with a perp walk by decked-out agents who are “large” and “beefy.”
[O]n the same day as his indictment, FBI leadership discussed hauling Comey in instead of waiting for the ex-FBI chief to report to court on his own, a source knowledgeable about the conversions told CBS News.
The source told CBS News that leadership asked for “large, beefy” agents to conduct an arrest of Comey “in full kit,” including Kevlar vests and exterior wear emblazoned with the FBI logo. It was suggested that Chris Ray, a supervisory special agent in the violent crimes division of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, would be able to put together the kinds of agents who fit the bill, the source said.
The article goes on to note that there’s an “active” effort to arrest Comey before Thursday. However there are sources are told agents resisting this nonsense. In my view that’s cause for hope. Despite someone already having gotten axed for refusing to head up such an effort others are resisting having the FBI be part of a classic Trumpian sh!t show. Beefy Agents all dressed up in tactical gear? The linked article takes pains to say Patel isn’t ‘linked’ to this and doesn’t even mention Trump himself as directly being involved but come on! Even the dumbest of dumbass MAGA asshats knows damn well this it Trump telling Patel to ‘git er done’ and Patel playing the dutiful minion and trying.
Remember what I said about being careful what you wish for? Well, there’s a couple of things Trump is I think overlooking. Granted, the optics could cut both ways but as I think about it the whole thing will look silly. People forget, but Comey is six feet eight inches tall. (Sorry Barron!) However he was a lawyer with tons of DOJ experience when named FBI Director and never a federal agent himself nor was he ever in the military. He’s tall and fit but in appearance and demeanor about a milquetoast as a middle aged white guy can look. Team Trump will try to claim (because of Comey’s height) it took this big crew of federal agents decked out like they were in a war zone to apprehend a ‘dangerous criminal.’ I just don’t see it playing that way on video. Not even to lots of MAGAs
So in my view the whole spectacle might well backfire on Trumpty Dumpty. Like I said EVERYONE will know it’s a Trump ordered show. However there’s another and more serious issue to talk about. If you’ve followed this then you know some legal pundits question whether the charges will be dismissed. Which means no trial. From what we know so far it’s one weak-assed case and smacks of classic so-called ‘Selective Prosecution.’ I don’t have any formal legal training but my understanding is that while not common charges against defendants have been dismissed on such grounds.
That’s only part of the problem Team Trump might create. Yes, a showy perp walk will add credibility to a defense motion to dismiss on Selective Prosecution grounds. Hell, Trump won’t be able to shut up about his little show and the posts and video clips will be shown to the judge! However there’s apparently something called Vindictive Prosecution which not being a lawyer I think might not be separate from Selective Prosecution but a component. Whether it’s its own separate legal thingy or part of Selective Prosecution keep an eye out for this term.
The more Team Trump, and of course Trump himself crows about any Comey Perp Walk the more nails they put in the coffin of their bogus case. Let’s face it – this whole hot mess IS about payback. Retribution. It’s petty VINDICTIVENESS on Trump’s part and since he knows neither SCOTUS or Congressional Republicans will say no to him he’s in Mad King mode. The irony is that but for Comey’s animus towards Hillary Clinton Trump would likely never have become President the first time around!
Well, a show is coming. An epic Sh!t Show under the Trump Circus Big Top. It might turn into a spectacular PR belly flop. And (for Trump) worse ruin any chances of prevailing in a pathetically weak case being handled by a woefully inexperienced and inept U.S. Attorney. If Comey exercises his right to a speedy trial (something I wrote about already) Halligan might have to present the case herself. Career prosecutors want no part of this (and gave her the same ‘There’s no “there” there memo’ they gave her predecessor. Trump and Bondi probably wouldn’t trust any of the line prosecutors at this point.
However there’s a lot going on and Bondi might not get around to getting handpicked hacks that at least have some federal court experience installed in that office in time Fitzpatrick (Comey’s outstanding lawyer) tells the judge he’s ready to go to trial right freaking now. It’s a short indictment with only two charges covering the same statement by Comey. There’s little the government can do to drag the case out. Trump, who has in his life been a master at (as a defendant in civil and criminal litigation) proven a master at delays. However the law is clear on this and if Comey demands it we’ll have a trial before the holidays. That Comey will win and Trump will LOSE.
Trump has surely been told all this. He’d yell and cuss but later on know deep inside he’s going to lose. That’s why he wants this big show of a Comey Perp walk. I just hope Democrats can get journalists and pundits to point this out starting from when it happens.
Where were all these FBI Agents during the Russia Hoax and the Lawfare against Trump? Oh, they were leading it. There were some whistleblowers, but they were all fired, demoted or driven out of the FBI by Biden and the Deep State. The prophet Malachi said: “He who sows the wind, will harvest a storm”. Comey and Dems are getting their payback for the Russia Hoax and Lawfare against Trump. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander.

Where is your PROOF of these “whistleblowers” who were removed by the “Deep State?” And, you talk about “lawfare against Drumpf?” He’s LEADING the current lawfare against Comey. He’s actively threatened to attack any and all he considers his “enemies” by SUING them.
And, you think Comey was HELPING the Dems? He’s the whole reason why the investigation against Hillary was reopened less than 2 weeks before the 2016 election. He’s the REASON we got stuck with Drumpf the first time around. AND Comey was *IN* Drumpf’s first administration (until Drumpf had no use for him mainly because Comey was an actual professional who believed in the rule of law over blind loyalty to a wannabe dictator).
