Oh, what a fun headline to write. If I could write me about ten headlines just like this one every single day, I would be happier than the proverbial pig in mud. It is wallow and splash time, when the statistics are reading that way. Again, I’m no slave to polls, not having lived through the last several elections since 2016, but a trend is a trend and the first few polls after Joe Biden’s passing the baton to Kamala Harris one week ago today, are all showing that DonOld Trump is toast.
A January poll in the Detroit News showed Trump ahead of Biden by eight percentage points, 47% to 39%. Another poll was held last Monday through Wednesday by the same outlet after Biden stepped down and now Harris is tied with Trump at 41% each, with RFK, Jr. polling at 10%. Again, it’s a trend, but it’s a substantial trend and it’s in the right direction. And frankly I find 10% for RFK, Jr. a bit high, but we’ll certainly keep an eye on how all three continue to poll.
But here is where it get comical: DonOld Trump has zero support amongst Blacks in Michigan. OMFG.
Other key findings:
- Among African American voters, 82.1% support Harris, 11.5% support Kennedy, no black voters in this survey supported Trump.
- The survey found that Michigan voters agree with Biden’s decision to step aside in the 2024 presidential race. 88.3% of voters agree compared to only 6.5% that disagree.
- Voters were asked if Biden’s announcement to not run again made them more or less motivated to vote in November.
- 25.6% said they were more motivated.
- 0.7% said they were less motivated.
- 73.2% said it had no impact on their motivation.
And of those voters who were more motivated to vote, they’re all Democrats, much younger 18-29, and more likely to be African-American than they were before Kamala Harris entered the race at the top of the ticket.
Now here’s another poll which shows the same trend. This is from Newsweek.
AÂ CNNÂ poll conducted earlier this week found that Harris had the support of 78 percent of Black voters, while Trump had 15 percent. It surveyed 1,631 registered voters who had previously participated in CNN polls in April and June. One earlier poll had shown Trump, who won only 8 percent of the Black vote in 2020, had 23 percent of Black voters supporting him, while 73 percent backed Biden.
When asked for comment about the recent polling favoring Harris, Karoline Leavitt, the Trump campaign press secretary, directed Newsweek to a memo from the campaign’s pollster Tony Fabrizio about what he branded the “Harris honeymoon.”
“The honeymoon will be a manifestation of the wall-to-wall coverage Harris receives” from the media, he wrote. The coverage, he added, would be “largely positive and will certainly energize Democrats,” giving Harris a polling edge. Fabrizio said Democrats and the media “will try and tout these polls as proof that the race has changed. But the fundamentals of the race stay the same.” […]
Costas Panagopoulos, a political science professor at Northeastern University, previously told Newsweek that the “swift shift in support for Trump to Harris among Black voters tells you something about how fickle Trump’s support was among these voters.
“Once they had a viable alternative that also happens to share their racial identity, they jumped ship from Trump almost instantly.”
Black voters have showed enthusiasm for Harris’ candidacy, with an estimated 90,000 Black women logging on for a video call organized by a group called #WinWithBlackWomen to support her campaign hours after Biden’s announcement on Sunday, the Associated Press reported. Zoom typically maxes out at 1,000 participants, but the company increased the capacity to 40,000 participants for the call, the AP said, with another 50,000 participants streaming the meeting on other platforms.
The following night, a “Black Men for Harris” online streaming event co-hosted by #WinWithBlackMen drew tens of thousands who pledged to support Harris.
These are more signs of not only a trend, but a sociological phenomenon. But let Team Trump and Sean Hannity talk about “honeymoons” and “sugar highs.” It will give them something to say until November 5 when a blue tsunami wipes out the orange pestulence and the GOP finally has to cope with the fact that they’ve destroyed themselves with their fidelity to a reality TV actor; and it’s time to abandon reality TV and get into reality itself.

I think that you meant pestilence, not pestulence
I hope the day comes when his cell mate slaps the shit out of him because they’re sick of hearing how the democrats stole the 2024 election and sent his ass to jail.
Wouldn’t that be an interesting end to this saga? I wonder if President Harris would pardon him?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAaaaah……
Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come across the nation. There will be a backlash against V.P. Harris come November: this country’s republican party is anti-woman, anti-p.o.c, anti-child (after birth–they’re all in on the f*cking fetus), etc. White republicans are going to do what they can to make good and damned sure a woman of color does not sit behind the Resolute Desk. An energized opposition party will help to stem that tide but the real energy is going to have to come from young people, women (young women especially), p.o.c. (AAPI–this is your time to shine btw), and let’s face it the LGBTQ+ cohort had better get out and vote before they are erased, completely, from society (should project 1825 become us policy, banning same sex marriage is merely a start). If the Harris campaign doesn’t motivate these voters to get off their asses and to the polls, we will get four more years, at a minimum, of von shitzinpants.
If you’re not a white, con, xtian, male of privilege, there is nothing for you on a magat ticket and hillbilly boy isn’t going to change that calculus. Pity the magat base doesn’t see this. Hopefully the other side, the majority of America, DOES see this.
