It seems that Trump is having yet another fit. His people aren’t being subservient enough, and they won’t let the Epstein files go. They are likely going to get right back to it once the Manhattan shooting falls out of the news. But I digress. He keeps thinking this will just go away. It’s not that simple. Here’s something from the Morning Joe show, via Raw Story:
“Kind of just mad libs there – autopen, hoax, scum,” said co-host Willie Geist, quoting the president’s claims. “The president also reiterated he has the ability to pardon convicted Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell if he wants to. Meanwhile, the Trump administration seems to believe the president’s base will move on from the Epstein files. It has not, but podcaster Joe Rogan disagrees, calling out the administration for gaslighting its supporters.”
If he pardons Ghislaine, there may be an uproar that this country has never seen before. Remember, she lies. She almost never tells the truth. And she was part of Epstein’s dirty business. She does NOT need to be out on the streets again. Another writer has already spoken about Joe Rogan, and you can find it here. But, back to the matter at hand.
Trump keeps wishing this Epstein thing would just go away. It won’t, and we know that. He’s pissing off MAGA because they feel he’s letting them down. They want the information. At this point, I expect most of the world does. I’m pretty sure Putin does because of the way he trolled Melania and Agent Orange with her “modeling” pictures. Hate to say anything good about Putin, but ohhhh that was entertaining.
“The bigger problem for the president, it seems to me, is that his base for years has singularly obsessed, it seems, on this conspiracy theory and the belief that Democrats were pedophiles, that they had this massive, widespread, you know, Hollywood stars had this massive, widespread pedophile ring that Jeffrey Epstein was at the center of, and so, you know, Tom Winters and other NBC News reporters can say there’s no list there, there’s nothing there, [but] they’re just not going to listen to that.”
Things that you did many years ago will still come back to mess with you. The Epstein files have done that. He used it in the campaign. He was going to release them and show how horrible Democrats are. Now that his name is in them a lot, he *doesn’t* want them released. He did this to himself. I have no sympathy for this man. I am positively gleeful at all the missteps he’s making.
“President Trump himself, he only fanned the flames occasionally,” said co-host Jonathan Lemire. “He was not a major driver of it, but plenty of people around him did, including many of whom have very high-profile positions in the government right now and I’ve reported for this show and for The Atlantic just how angry President Trump is that a lot of these people, lawmakers, but also podcasters, media influencers, people he believes he created, they’re making money off of him. He has told people around him are openly defying him that he can’t get this to stop, and it’s not going to go away.”
WHAM. Bingo! How many Republicans are going to have town halls over the recess? None, I would think. They *really* don’t want to go out there. They’re going to get hammered with their constituents over the Epstein case. They may have run home to escape this, but it’s never that easy. And Trump? He’s going to keep on wishing. I mostly agree with your take but think the situation with Putin is different than what you suggest. I too don’t mind Pootie trolling Trump via Melania. But I see it as the type of crude and inartful threat the old USSR would have done. Ham-handed. We’ve wondered for years what Putin had on Trump. Well, there’s all that money for one thing. Remember where Trumpty’s been. All those UK golf properties are from Russian money provided by ‘Pootie and the Oligarchs.’ (Sounds like the name of a bad Russian rock band) So there’s that and we know those properties haven’t turned out to be nearly as profitable at Trumpty promised. With the interest (you know Pootie has charged more than the banks that stopped doing business with Trump) he’s in even deeper with each passing month.
Still, there had to be something else I thought. And I’ve long thought I knew what it was. Ever since I learned Epstein had his places wired for video and sound too. Trump was a regular visitor to gatherings where rich and powerful people engaged in what was acknowledged as sexual antics. It’s reasonable to assume not all of it was consensual, either due to drinking, drugs or just outright rape. Not to mention the underage girls. Unless I’m mistaken the 13 year old Trump raped (allegedly – the case was dropped when the death threats got to be too much for her to deal with) happened at Epstein’s place. And Epstein has a recording. Remember that safe the FBI broke into in 2019 with photos, and DVDs listing names of who was on them and what they were depicted doing? Since it got out that Epstein had his places wired it stands to reason Putin, who from the time Yeltsen made the mistake of putting him in a top position saw value in tapping old KGB colleagues to get in their and copy everything! They could do so without leaving much, if any of a trace they’d been there.
That would Putin knew provide a lot of dirt on a lot of people. Just in case he one day needed it. More importantly, it raises the possibility (more like probability) Pootie has that incident with the then 13 year old (not to mention others) on video! I doubted the Russian hooker pee tape on Obama’s bed. Christopher Steele never, ever maintained what was in his infamous dossier was polished intelligence but just raw material that merited checking out. Two stories of questionable veracity got blended into one with the golden shower accusation.
My point is that if made a great smokescreen because Pootie had something far more damaging to Trump. Or even if he didn’t enough details to credibly threaten Trump! THAT is what has Trump terrified. He owes Russians including Putin a lot of money and while he’s raking it in now as I said a LOT of interest (maybe not at loan shark levels the whole time but while he was President at least) but Putin doesn’t need the money so much as he needs other things from Trump who on political stuff (including Ukraine) promised more than he could deliver.
Putin was said to have stomach cancer at one point. He sure looked like that might be the case. Contrary to what you might think Russian modern medicine/doctors has always been better than we Americans assume. Overall better than here! For someone like Putin getting world class care and having even a serious cancer successfully treated isn’t a crazy thing. I have always believed however that if Pootie knew he was about to die he’d release what he had on Trump. And THAT would be the end of Trump.
As long as Trump can convince Putin he can, if not now then “soon” be of use he’s safe but I for one don’t doubt Putin reminds Trump of what happens IF he loses faith Trumpty will ever be able to fully deliver. He’s close to that point I think because “sleepers” like Gabbard, Carlson and I think even Ratcliffe perhaps have been “activated.” They aren’t being reticent anymore about open support including ACTION which benefits Putin. Hegseth too maybe?
But I’m convinced that if only to be an asshole Putin will decide at some point, especially if he knows he’s about to die to stick it to Trump. The funny thing is, Trumpty’s the one who might drop from a heart attack or stroke any day. That means every day Pootie has to decide whether today’s the day to fuck over Trump while he still can.

On the other hand, if Putin ever puts this out … I think hell will break loose. And our country would be destroyed. Oh, mercy. Correct me if I’m wrong. I would like to be wrong about our country. There might not be much of our democracy left (hello, arresting Judge Hannah Dugan) but there are those of us, like here on Pz, and many others who aren’t giving up.
