Oh, goodie. Another episode of Trump hysteria for something he brought on himself. Well, while he’s doing that, he isn’t throwing any bombs, so we should probably be grateful. And worried, because he’s trying to get disaffiliated voters back, because of the pounding we are going to give him at midterms. I appreciate Raw Story:

President Donald Trump was reportedly trying to win back voters he offended in recent weeks with a new stunt, according to reports on Wednesday. The Guardian‘s Adam Gabbatt described how Trump’s attempt Tuesday night to read from the Bible — the Old Testament’s Book of Chronicles — was a move that left religious scholars unimpressed.

” Trump didn’t actually read it to the whole of the US, of course,” Gabbatt wrote. “Instead he read it, in a taped message that was broadcast via a slightly janky livestream, to anyone enthusiastic enough to tune into a weeklong, rightwing, ‘America Reads the Bible‘ event where 500 people – a collection of true believers, Republican politicians, grifters, weirdos, and homophobes – are taking it in turns to read the Bible cover to cover.”

Ha. Nope. That’s not going to work *at all* after what he did. He insulted people all over the place, likely including all over the world, with his stunt. A boring reading of the Bible is not going to replace it. An apology might, but we know Trump doesn’t do apologies. I’m no longer a mainstream anything, and I was offended. Comparing himself to Jesus? Get real. And that’s quite an exotic collection of readers he has.

Trump has come under fire for attacks on Pope Leo, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, and following a bizarre move where he featured an AI image of himself portrayed as Jesus Christ on his Truth Social platform. He later removed it and told the press that he thought the image was depicting him as a doctor. It’s unclear if religious voters were swayed by the president’s efforts to regain their support, Gabbatt argued.

Yea no. That’s a pitiful effort to get his voters back. They’re not going to forget it. Attacking Pope Leo was also a *very* bad idea. It’s just going to anger people further. On the other hand, Pope Leo doesn’t give a damn about Trump. He just brushes him off and continues his work across Africa. It doesn’t matter what Trump does. Pope Leo ignores it. I admire this man.

“To some, Trump reading scripture may have seemed a little cynical,” Gabbatt wrote. “Trump is desperate to win back angry Christians after he alienated many with that Son of God AI photo, and with the attacks on Pope Leo (among other things, Trump accused God’s representative on Earth of being ‘soft on crime’).” “People might also fairly question the sincerity of Trump’s effort, given the president’s historically tenuous relationship with the Christian faith,” Gabbatt added.

Ahahaha. Trump has faith in Trump, and no one or nothing else. He’s not going to get them back that easily, if at all. Reading from the Bible does not change what he did. Remember him clearing protestors out of the way so he could stand in front of the church near the White House with a Bible? Or the desecrated “Trump Bible”? He doesn’t have faith in anything but himself and money. Everyone knows it. no matter how hard he tries to portray himself as a religious man. So, he can keep on trying all he wants. It’s a high probability that it won’t work, now, or later. Awwww.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
