Well, I’ll put it in Trump Terminology – FAKE CHRISTIANS! Alas, tens of millions of self-professed Evangelicals, and/or MAGA goobers out there will fall for this crap. It’s times like these when I think back to the Gospel of Matthew and what Jesus warned about those who make a show of praying in public. And tweeting out a photo, creating a freaking photo op of pretending to care about the teachings of the Savior they only claim to worship and follow is as disgusting an example of praying in public as any we’ve seen from Trump and his minions.
However this is the Trump administration in it’s pure hypocritical ‘glory’ – a group of people just like him who care ONLY about helping him enrich himself (while grifting themselves) at the expense of everyone who isn’t already filthy rich. Which if you recall is something else Jesus did more than talk about. Remember the part of the bible where he went to the Temple and on a rampage overturning the tables of the money-lenders exploiting the masses right there in God’s House? Well, as far as Trump is concerned the Capitol like the White House is HIS house so what better place to hold a ‘prayer circle’ – and just before heading into the House chamber for the SOTU? I don’t think Circle Jerk is out of line because their antics are nothing more than a group “fluffing” of their true god – the flaming orange human shaped rectum we call Donald Trump.
There’s not a single person in the title pic who should be a Cabinet member. Not One. Most are woefully unqualified, and of those who might have some marginal credentials for their posts said qualifications are truly marginal. Then again, that was the point of putting them in their jobs. They can do disgusting photo ops like this and pretend to worship God and Jesus but what they truly worship is Trump. Because total servitude to Trump will make them richer than they already are.
Look, pretend Christian leaders who live lives of luxury made their deal with the Devil Trump long ago. And the MAGA masses bought the act hook, line and sinker. Or sucker perhaps would be a better word because that’s all his MAGAs are to Trump – suckers and losers stupid enough to give him money and vote for him. Working for Trump means working to screw over the very people Jesus’ ministry taught us to care about and help. Back when some in the Faux Christian movement felt twinges of guilt, or worried their actions ran counter to Jesus’ teachings they created their own version of the New Testament, a Prosperity Gospel if you will. One in which it’s not only okay to screw over others to become richer, but to at the same time denigrate those who aren’t rich like them!
Still, they have to keep up the act so MAGAs don’t catch on. Hence this photo op we learn from 2paragraphs was staged prior to the SOTU. I see it and am reminded of a crude, black and white drawn cartoon where Trump sits at the table with guys on either side with a disgusting look on his face (does he have any other look?). It’s clear he’s getting handjobs under the table, and the caption is a single word: NEXT! This is verbal masturbation of their true god – MONEY – and it’s not Jeebus but Trump. Look, if they want to in private huddle like that it’s one thing, but to go posting a picture on Xitter and lies about what it was really all about? The truth is it was a suckup to try and prop up Trump. He’s not doing at all well in his approval ratings and even MAGAs are getting impatient with him.
So we get not only this appalling display but a truckload of bullshit from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins:

Just us, working to put God first as we fiercely battle to save America’s soul.”

Why four of the people shown weren’t in the actual circle jerk is a question. I can see them not wanting to touch or be touched by Brain-Worm-Bobby. In addition to still having brain worms given his proclivities who the hell knows what germs or toxic waste he’s been bathing in might rub off on them? The others? Who knows? Just seeing this story was enough to get my day off to a bad start so I’d rather not think much about THAT.
What I do know is there isn’t a single one, NOT ONE of the people professing to be followers of Jesus Christ who would lift a finger for those Jesus called ‘the least of us.’ The poor. The afflicted. The stranger. No, this is a gang that teaches us NOT to love and care for the people Jesus commanded us to care for, but rather to make themselves/ourselves feel better about ignoring Jesus’ teaching by trashing them! THESE are the people Trump surrounds himself with.
I can’t imagine any of them actually believe in God or Jesus. If they did not a one of them would lead the lives they’ve led, or serve Donald effing Trump. For any that do, I enjoy the thought of them dying like my P.O.S. grandfather (my dad’s father) did, TERRIFED before losing consciousness for the last time knowing they would be roasting in hell before their last breathe is fully out of their body. Forgiveness of sins requires true repentance, not just deathbed conversion to try and stay out of hell. Satan is going to have himself quite a lot of fun giving these asshat fake Christians what they deserve.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. Perhaps the strongest condemnation of Drumpf as a Christian comes from Jesus Himself in the Beatitudes.

I respectfully disagree. It doesn’t matter that I or most on this site disagree, often strongly so with Mark. And yes, sometimes he posts something like he did this time which is just trolling which is why I didn’t respond. Sometimes I have more pressing matters to tend to than to engage with him. Still, I like to see and hear what those who believe differently than I do have to say. And sometimes it’s fun to take some time to slap them down. Keep in mind that Mark isn’t the only conservative who drops in here. He just speaks out from time to time and if he doesn’t break any rules he’s got as much right to comment as any of us should have on a conservative site.

I know we support different parties so our opinions on the cabinet members differ but if we’re talking level of competence and record of accomplishments while doing the job tasked with, I’ll stand behind Trump’s cabinet (2nd term) all day.
And the religion/faith thing… I don’t think anyone should be judging another’s faith, especially when you’re drawing your conclusion based on their public life.
Ok. You mentioned Mayorkas. Yes, he could have done better with the southern border but what I raised was qualifications. In addition to having served as U.S. Attorney in central CA (lots of immigration issues r.e. farm labor) he spent four years as Director Of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. He’d spend another four as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security. Say what you will about his performance in the top slot but he was FAR better qualified for head of DHS than Noem.
As for Buttigieg there’s degrees from Harvard and Oxford that include economics – something important in public works projects. As a solider he got some rather brutal experience with roads dealing with searching for/clearing IEDs – knowing how/where they were likely to be hidden and ensuring roads were safe. In two terms as mayor he oversaw considerable development of roads, and also improving public transportation. I’ll match all that up against Sean Duffy any day.
‘Ritchie’ Levine? To be honest the name didn’t strike a bell. However he wasn’t a cabinet secretary or even what’s called a ‘cabinet level’ head.

As for religion, I’m reminded of what I learned growing up in bible study. Yes, I’ve long been agnostic but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten what I was taught or see value in what Jesus and his apostles had to say in the New Testament. Remember ‘Faith without works is as nothing?’

Jesus was clear about “What you do for the least of these, you do for me” and he took great issue with those of means who wouldn’t help others. Jesus didn’t hang out with the bigwigs. He spent his time with the downtrodden and poor. And made it clear they should be helped – NOT make rich people even richer (and at the expense of the masses) so they might give a bit here and there if they felt like it.
Jesus and his own family were freaking “illegal immigrants” at times! Perhaps that why he commanded that we help the stranger. Read the sermon on the mount where he teaches the multitude the Lord’s Prayer. You know what? Jesus would have approved of that group huddling for a prayer off in some antechamber. It’s the posting it online in a “LOOK! See what super-duper Christians we are because we prayed!” he’d object to.
No, by their actions these people make it clear taking care of those who already have the most is their priority. And denigrating, and worse cutting assistance to average and poor people, outright trashing them for not being rich themselves makes these jagoffs worthy of ridicule for their hypocrisy.
