While Al Green calls for impeachment and Justin Trudeau intones how Canada welcomes it’s immigrants, because diversity makes a nation stronger, Donald Trump has accomplished his mission. He didn’t want the news cycle to be about Jeffrey Epstein and so he went on the attack on Twitter and brought the House down, literally, with Kevin McCarthy screaming about decorum while Doug Collins incited a parliamentary debate about whether Nancy Pelosi could call Trump a racist on the record. Trump doesn’t care if he looked even worse than usual to some people this week and he certainly couldn’t care less about a congressional resolution — this is all reality teevee to him. Washington Post:

Stage left: Commentator opines that Trump is trying to lather up his perpetually lathered base ahead of the 2020 election. Stage right: Consultant avers that Trump is trying to make the four women the faces of the Democratic Party.

That certainly seems to be what Trump is doing, but The Donald doesn’t care diddly-squat about the Squad, even if, as a bonus, it has siphoned the juice from his Democratic challengers. The president’s modus operandi is as obvious as O’Rourke’s desperation: create chaos, distract the masses, look mad, take care of business.

As always, one must ask, what is the Something Else he doesn’t want us to see? Based on timing, my best guess is Jeffrey Epstein: financier, sex offender, globe-trotting gallivant and alleged sex trafficker of teenage girls.

Monday was a big day for both men. While Trump was doubling down on his controversial tweets, Epstein was attending his bail hearing. At the hearing, prosecutors revealed that the contents of a locked safe in Epstein’s Manhattan mansion allegedly included diamonds, cash — and a bogus and outdated passport with Epstein’s photograph, a different name and an address in Saudi Arabia.

Bear in mind, Alex Acosta says he was told Epstein was “above his pay grade” and belonged to intelligence, hence the slap on the wrist plea deal. Plus Epstein’s girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell’s father worked for the KGB and who knows how and where Trump is implicated? He and Epstein were fast friends at one time. Here’s the video of the Trump/Epstein bromance in full flower.

Is it just me, or does Donald Trump look like he’s thickened or darkened his eyebrows here? He looks like Dracula, but without the sex appeal.

Nancy Pelosi said that Trump is a “master of distraction.” As the Epstein matter heats up, watch for Trump to pull the same stunt. It’s all about bread and circus and saving his own ass. We don’t know what Epstein has on Trump, but it can’t be flattering, so playing the racist card to distraction is Trump’s best bet. Expect the national discourse to plummet even farther — yes, I wonder too how that’s possible. But just wait and see.

  1. Some people actually have eyebrows like that. They match his hair, so they’re probably real.

(I was wondering if all those females dancing around him were on something, or if it was just lots of high-proof alcohol.)

  2. Somehow, if we actually knew what has happened at these parties our imaginations would be contaminated with visions of the blundering, sniveling large man with a pea sized brain acting like a 3 year old with a brand new lollipop, fondling and abusing young girls at will even if they said NO … his every nasty fantasy would come to the forefront … because Trump was a procurer of the girls, he may have given them something in the punch so they could relax and not remember exactly why they were there, (the contest), and what had happened to the girls … the better ones, per his requirements, could have been given a booster dose so they could NOT object at all …

  3. I thought I’d heard of the Epstein/Trump connection before….per PBS Newshour…..

““Jane Doe” aka “Katie Johnson” – 1994. Lawsuit filed June 2016, refiled October 2016 as reported by Buzzfeed and others, then dropped in November 2016.
Jane Doe is an unnamed plaintiff, who has also gone by “Katie Johnson” in legal papers. She claims she was repeatedly raped by Trump and Jeffery Epstein at Epstein’s New York City apartment in 1994, when she was 13 years old. A witness, also given a pseudonym — “Tiffany Doe” — said she recruited “Jane Doe” and others. Doe, using the name “Johnson,” gave an interview to the Daily Mail in which she said she did not know who Trump was at the time of the alleged attack but identified him later when she saw him on television. It is not known why she withdrew the lawsuit. She has not spoken publicly or withdrawn her rape allegation since then.”

Trump would rather talk of anything else besides Epstein…..the 4 congresswomen should take note.

    • That was my thought, too. If Trump doesn’t want to talk about Epstein and is going to go on about racism and people leaving the country, just ignore him — and talk non stop about Epstein. That would solve this problem.

      • I’d like to see someone, anyone publish those “lost” Apprentice tapes where Trump’s racist language of choice leaves him and the Republicans in a indefensible position.

……once they are chasing their tails with that, smash those bastards with Epstein.

The time for playing games is over.

          • Steny Hoyer got re-elected, along with Clyburn. Both of them are in favor of doing as little as possible, so they don’t upset the GOP-T.

          • A lot of good stuff is happening. I’m happy that Wilbur Ross and William Barr are being held in contempt of Congress. I’m happy Mueller is testifying on the 24th of April. We can’t have it all immediately.

          • For real, Ursula…this is not an overnight process. At the moment, we have a foothold but we’re a long ways from where we need to be. So…more work ahead.

  4. I”m dubious about this whole “distraction” thing, because which is really worse? It’s all a matter of opinion. I think Trump is just being Trump and no matter what he does is awful, so there’s no “distraction.” Honestly, the racism and xenophobia are a lot more scary and evil than Jeffrey Epstein. Yes, the so-called “Squad” is contrived and irrelevant, but Trump’s un-American attacks are not.

    • Consider this as well: Trump needs SOMETHING to lead into his reelection campaign. Targeting the squad means he’s placing a double or nothing bet on racism alone carrying the day. Not the soft-spoken Republican euphemisms, either…full-throated support of the ugliest parts of the American consciousness. He’s thinking that will be enough. We should disabuse of that notion on Election Day 2020, yes?

      • The request for bail was DENIED.
His lawyers are saying that foreign passport was given to him by “a friend”. [Yeah, right – and I’m the emperor of Mongolia.]

        • Yeah, the Austrian one was apparently the tipping point. Wonder how much the Saudi one Ursula reported on had an effect on that decision too.

  5. Yuck…after he bends over laughing and turns around…he has Fright Night smile. Remember the 80’s horror film? It makes him so creepy.

Well…that and being a serial child rapist.

  6. Funny thing about distractions…in court proceedings like this, they have a zero effect. It didn’t help Epstein get bail nor did it halt the release of that disgusting video with Trump and Epstein nor will it stop the unsealing of some court documents that will give folks a better idea of Epstein’s business. If there IS something demonstrably ugly buried in this case linked to Trump, we’ll hear about it soon enough.

Also, don’t discount another purpose to taking on “The Squad”. He needs a new boogeywoman to replace Hillary (who is out of public life and untouchable) and Nancy Pelosi (who scares the hell out of him). He’s going all in on racism being enough to reelect him.
