Donald Trump is already receiving the highest level of protection that the United States government affords to any former president or any presidential candidate. But that is not good enough, apparently. He wants elaborate military protection and military vehicles, including aircraft. So does that mean that Trump Force One is out of gas, and/or needs repairs? Who knows? In any event, here’s the latest nuttiness from the Washington Post.

Donald Trump’s campaign requested military aircraft for Trump to fly in during the final weeks of the campaign, expanded flight restrictions over his residences and rallies, ballistic glass pre-positioned in seven battleground states for the campaign’s use and an array of military vehicles to transport Trump, according to emails reviewed by The Washington Post and people familiar with the matter.

The requests are extraordinary and unprecedented — no nominee in recent history has been ferried around in military planes ahead of an election. But the requests came after Trump’s campaign advisers received briefings where the government said Iran is still actively plotting to kill him, according to the emails reviewed by The Post and the people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive discussions. Trump advisers have grown concerned about drones and missiles, according to people familiar with the matter.

In the emails over the past two weeks from campaign manager Susie Wiles to Ronald L. Rowe Jr., the head of the Secret Service, she expressed displeasure with the Secret Service and said the campaign recently had to cancel a public event at the last minute because of a “lack of personnel” from the Secret Service — instead only putting Trump in a small room with reporters. Wiles said Trump’s campaign was being hampered in its planning because of threats, and they expect to hold far more events in the final weeks of the campaign. […]

“Assistance from the Department of Defense is regularly provided for the former president’s protection, to include explosive ordnance disposal, canine units, and airlift transportation,” Guglielmi said. “Other enhancements the Secret Service has is providing includes Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) over the former president’s residence and when he travels. Additionally, the former president is receiving the highest level of technical security assets which include unmanned aerial vehicles, counter unmanned aerial surveillance systems, ballistics and other advanced technology systems.”

This is beyond nutty. Nobody has ever heard of a presidential nominee getting a military jet. The article went on to say that “one person who has served under multiple Republican administrations in senior roles said the Secret Service granting such a request would be ‘extraordinary.'” Extraordinarily batshit, is what it is. Totally and completely beyond the pale.

And this is what you’re looking at a preview of, right here and now, the utterly unparalleled mess that a second Trump administration would be. This is just one more reason on a pile of reasons that we have to defeat this lunatic at the ballot box.

    • Trump has already suggested that Joe Biden should do that, when he heard of the conspiracy to assassinate him.

I can only speak for myself, and I don’t want Trump dead. I want him to stand trial for all his crimes and go to prison. Whether a future President Harris would or would not pardon him is a bridge we can cross later, when it’s time.

  1. Would they request aircraft, military etc in prep for their next insurrection? Asking for a friend. Trust them as far as I can throw them.

  2. When do we provide all this stuff to traitors who lead a violent coup while leaving office? A cigarette and blindfold seems more appropriate…and cost the taxpayers much less.

  3. I’m sitting here grinning from ear to there trying to imagine the USAF attempting to fit the obese orange from Marm a Lade into a flight suit, never mind trying to get his fat a$$ on the back seat of any armed military aircraft (never mind the decrease in fuel and ordnance due to the extra weight being carried).

Then the Army trying to get him inside a Bradley after getting a set of body armour (and helmet) to fit him

  4. Would this upgrade in protection for the Insurrectionist Candidate include Jewish Space Lasers (JSLs), and would Marjorie Taylor Greene be tasked with outfitting said JSLs to fit inside the Air Force jet whilst also fitting the Insurrectionist Candidate presumably in the same aircraft. “Hey, Benny! Bring me that big tub of Vaseline!”

  5. This is all for show. He’s always wanted a military parade and he probably knows this is his last chance because he’s going to LOSE. He also thinks it will make him look more like a President and an important person to his slobbering base.

I still have doubts about whether those two “assassination” attempts were even real. The way his security detail botched the first one and even let him stand unprotected and raise his fist after, and the second where the gunman was parked in plain view overnight and was there for hours, never firing a shot just smack of “staged”. Now I think we know at least part of why it was done.
