Donald’s dementia appears to be doubling or maybe tripling. As usual, he made the threat to run in 2028, this time at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, but for the first time he claimed he would run in 2032. Trump will be 86 when 2032 rolls along. The Mirror:
The president referenced that this was the second attempt at the dinner early on in his speech as he made his first hint of running for president again. “Just like my presidency the second time, is always better, it’s always better, and the third time will be better yet,” he said.
However, toward the end of his speech, Trump spoke about running for another term again. “Tonight, to show just how much I care about the press, and I want to save your ratings, I’m pleased to announce my intention to — and this is somewhat of a scoop — my intention to run for a fourth term as president of the United States. I will be doing that,” he said.
The room remained dead silent as he spoke. While a 2028 presidency would hypothetically be Trump’s third term, the president appeared to be referring to it as a “fourth term” because he has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that he won the 2020 election.
“I will be having an official — in fact, I think I have — yeah. I won three times. Now I’m going to do it again. Thank you. I’m going to do it again. It should be easy. I’m getting very good at running for president. Now, won three times. Did very well the second time, by the way,” he added as he put on a MAGA-style red hat emblazoned with “TRUMP 2028.”
Two thoughts here: Many a true word is spoken in jest and apparently the Constitution is nothing more than a piece of paper, as was joked about in the Dubya era. And think about it in practical terms: Trump made money running for election virtually the entire time Biden was in office. It’s possible that Trump believes he can circumvent the Constitution and be a part of every election until he goes feet first.
Unfortunately for Trump, Mother Nature has a deciding vote in all this. It will be interesting to see how she plays it. Lindsey’s dead, Mitch could be in a coma, and Trump thinks he’ll top Mother Nature? Right.
