The stolen election sideshow continues. Donald Trump is planning a trip to Phoenix on the 24th of this month to talk about election integrity. Meanwhile, the Arizona fraudit stumbles along on in its fruitless way. Here’s what’s happening in the real world. These facts are from the Maricopa County Recorder, via Charlie Sykes:

Here is Richer’s quick primer on the audit farce, which, he writes, “is all premised on a lie, some parts of which are laughable.”

*Republicans did decently here in Maricopa County.  We held the state legislature, held U.S. Representative Schweikert’s seat, and we won 5 of the 6 countywide seats, including mine, in which I unseated the incumbent Democrat.

*President Trump and Senator McSally lost Maricopa County.  Senator McSally has not said one word about the election being untoward.

*Maricopa County ran multiple post election tests and audits (including a hand count of 47,000+ votes that matched the machine count 100%) meant to address some of the most prevalent election concerns (especially those regarding Dominion tabulators).  Those all checked out and are publicly available.

*There were EIGHT court cases (state and federal) concerning Maricopa County.  None found fraud or significant error.

*The audit currently being conducted by the Arizona Senate is being done by a company that has never before conducted an election audit, is lead by a conspiracy-theory-believing CEO who has already said there was fraud, is very partisan, and is very unprofessional.

*Only top 2 races on ballot (Pres / U.S. Senate) are being counted.

*Only Maricopa County of Arizona’s 15 counties is being audited (no reason given).

*Maricopa County is the second largest voting jurisdiction in the United States, about 2.6 million registered voters, 2.1 million votes cast in Nov. 2020, about 2/3 of Arizona’s vote.  County is divided roughly 1/3 Republican, 1/3 Democrat, 1/3 Other.

That is the word from the duly elected official who is in charge of these matters, who also happens to be a Republican. He has no ulterior motives or agenda. He seems to be on the same page as Brad Raffensperger and other election officials in Georgia, who basically said the same thing, this is business as usual and they’re doing their job.

So that’s what’s going on in the Saneverse. And what’s going on in the Insaneverse? This.

And this

And don’t look for this to end any time soon. As stated, Trump’s going to Arizona on the 24th because this is his show. This is ground zero in MAGA world, the wellspring of the reinstatement delusion.

The sham audit itself is the endgame. The audit, which began on April 23, was supposed to end by May 14. Now, nearly two months after blowing past that deadline, a spokesman says people shouldn’t expect anything until August. But, really, who knows when, or if, it all will ever end.

It’s not like anyone in MAGA land is in any hurry to call curtains on the big show. That’s because the performance, as incompetent as it is, is the point. It’s what’s keeping Trump’s election delusions alive and well; not what will prove or disprove whether the fantasy has merit. The play’s the thing.

Besides, haven’t they already won, on some level? It’s not every day a couple of partisans are able to seize millions of ballots and a bunch of expensive election equipment to put on a big, months-long show at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Everybody came, too. Politicos, reporters, elected officials. MAGA propagandists are still capitalizing on all the free content. And donations keep pouring into the coffers of Trump-adjacent grifters all around. Why end it now?

It won’t end now. But it will end at some point in the not too distant future. Like all unsolid structures, the fake audit will collapse of its own weight. The records of the audit will soon be made available to a non partisan watchdog group, by court order. Plus, Mike Lindell’s cyber symposium will go the way of all his other endeavors and that is to say nowhere.

What you’re seeing now is pure political theater. The only question is, how incensed will the MAGAs get this time and will there be another outbreak(s) of violence? That’s the question you, me, and the FBI are trying to assess right now, as we look at all of this.

    • I tried to report the other day. The way Twitter has it, the report is multiple choice questions, none of which specifically apply to someone who is tweeting a person who is banned. I just used the “threatening” category and write it in the comment part. How the F*** this woman gets to tweet his shit, and even MGT got banned for 12 hours, is beyond me.

  1. What happens after you give them the routers? They ask for the servers? It should never been allowed to happen. And, why isn’t it being shut down NOW? The Republicans need to be squashed like the vermin they are. If you look the other way and ignore them it allows them the freedom to become more than just pests.

  2. Maybe, after all the fuss about the multiple failures of infrastructure week(s), they think this is the last chance they have to build anything.

Even if it is just a fraud, they’ve made Fraudit quite the edifice.

  3. Lemme see if I have this right. Trump is going to Arizona to talk election integrity. What the hell? Is his goal to wipe out what shreds of it remain there? Or, maybe it’s to keep any from growing back – kinda like nuking an empty piece of farmland to make sure nothing edible can grow on it again for tens of thousands of years!

I guess someone had to give him the bad (for him) news that the machines used were legit. Were. That of course was before his goons got their hands on them. But they were legit so now he’s going after servers? Why stop there? Why not go after the machines that were used to MAKE the voting machines and the servers? Or the machines that printed the ballots? Or made the paper on which the ballots were printed, and the ink used to print them? “People” say those might have been tampered with in a way to screw him! “That’s what some people are saying” we’ll at some point hear Trump say. And Rudy, and Lin Wood and others will dutifully parrot him and say “I’m just asking questions” and Tucker Carlson will bob his head up and down in agreement…

  4. ML, the dry drunk wants to add the routers to the pile of now useless election equipment that needs to be paid back to the taxpayers. I am dreaming of a protracted lawsuit ro make these qwackos (and the Orange Qwacko King) pay, plus that amount many times over for pain and suffering (how much does destroying democracy cost?).

Then toss them all in prison.

I’m long past ready to move on.

    • Put them all in Alcatraz, have tourists pay to gawk at them all on guided tours. Might bring in the money for firefighting CA was denied earlier and any surplus goes to the federal budget. I can see a couple million showing up each year to watch Trump and his minions behind bars plot and scheme to retake the WH in their orange jumpsuits.

      • No Big Brother em, Put them all in confinement and live stream their antics, it should be entertaining and Donald will love the ratings?

  5. “What you’re seeing now is pure political theater.” Yes — really bad political theater. Most of the audience would have walked out by now if they only could.

    • Yes priscianus jr But just wait til the second act where the rest of the cast of characters waiting in the wings, the GOPers up for election in 22. Watch them jump around like fleas on a hot stove. Oh what tangled webs we weave, to quote the bard.

  6. Maybe someone needs to shut Donald up by saying, “As soon as you turn over ALL your tax records for the last 25 years, we’ll put you back in the White House. Unless you have something to hide about them . . . . . .”

How long after that do you think it would be before Trump formally conceded the election and express his total admiration for the job that Biden’s done so far? (Well, okay–maybe not that last bit.)

  7. I am so tired of this fake audit that I could scream. It has made my state the laughingstock of the entire world. We didn’t deserve that.

  8. ” any nation that believes they can be ignorant & free, believe in what never was, nor ever will be.” Thomas Jefferson
