Trump plans to go to many places over the next 73 days but the only place he’s actually managing to get to is out in the weeds. Each time he shows up in a swing state to speak it is less coherent than the time before. He pulled a real whopper in Las Vegas today. He took a little known tax, which applies to even fewer people (how many folks do you know with more than $100 million? I thought so) and cobbled it together into a nefarious plan on Kamala’s part to ruin restauranteurs. (?!)

Harris was telling an exuberant crowd “Thank you,” both by way of thanking them and by way of stopping the cheering so she could finally deliver the speech. That’s what has Trumpty’s knickers all in a twist. He wishes for crowds like that again. The closest Trump got to that was back in the beginning of all this, 2015 and 2016, when Trump was ladeling vitriol onto the audience and they were loving every minute of it. Now he’s seen Harris do the best he ever did and then some by simple humanitarian concepts like brotherly love and taking care of one’s neighbor.

I say we follow Michelle Obama’s instructions, “Do something.” For the next 73 days we need to do whatever we can. Trump needs to be defeated and the Republican party needs to be hammered into the ground.
Whatever is left of sanity in the GOP needs to get beyond Trump and rebuild. This is not a presidential candidate here, or a former U.S. president — unless the comparison is with Herbert Hoover.
