The Democratic National Convention is rolling on into the history books. What a convocation of joyous souls and committed Americans. This is much better than 2016 and of course in 2020 we had whatever virtual version of a convention that we got, due to the COVID botch of the Trump administration. So right now what could be the Greatest Show On Earth is taking place in Chicago. A certain pear-shaped orange man with narrow shoulders and a big ass is not happy with all the attention going to other people. So he just had to sit down with phone in hand and start lying.
There is no “development.” If Trump actually heard from the Harris/Walz campaign tonight then he needs to show proof of that. Harris told Trump that she had no intention of a September 4 debate on Fox News and that she would see him at the regularly scheduled September 10 venue for the debate which Biden/Harris agreed upon before Joe Biden stepped down.
So, as you see, Trump is going to do a townhall in Pennsylvania with Sean Hannity. And if they pack it with MAGAs, fine. Believe it or not, it is still up in the air as to whether an audience will be allowed at the September 10 debate and if so, how one obtains tickets. I imagine that this will be solved soon.
Trump wants the Fox News townhall so that he can get ahead of the story, meaning create an illusion that everybody loves him and his ideas. A normal audience on September 10 would be fatal to Trump. It would be a rerun of the Libertarian Convention in Washington, D.C. where he was resoundingly mocked and the Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago last month where he ended up making a complete fool out of himself.
Let Trump have the comfort of Fox News. This may well be his last townhall. Ever. Wouldn’t that be nice?
He’s not far from being able to hold one of his ‘rallies’ in a phone box.
