Once upon a time there was a report Trump had had a bust of MLK sitting in the Oval Office Removed. His minions angrily offered proof no such thing had been done and back then they were for a change telling the truth. Ah, but that was then and this is now. The bust of MLK has indeed been removed from Trumpty’s Oval Office. The only thing I find surprising is that it took as long as it did into the second Trump administration for it to happen.
As this article from Meidas Touch News reports, MLK has been banished from the Oval Office. Anti-DEI continues. And being the small (in character) and weak man he is Trump had to have been truly uncomfortable having an icon like MLK sitting there as a reminder of what greatness looks like. Again, I’m only surprised it took so long but the deed is done:
As first reported by April Ryan for Black Press USA, a White House official confirmed the bust has been relocated to the President’s private dining room, just off the Oval Office, but refused to provide photos upon request.
Meidas Touch tells us the bust was there as of last April. It could be seen in photos taken during the Italian Prime Minister’s visit so the removal happened sometime after that point. Perhaps photojournalists will scour their archives and we can pin down the ‘it was there THAT day, and gone the next’ date. No matter. It’s gone and would have been even if someone had ‘redecorated’ it to suit Trump’s taste – as in adding a veneer of gold plating to match all the other gold crap increasingly cluttering the Oval Office.
I also don’t buy for one second it’s in Trump’s private dining room off the Oval. He couldn’t stand having it in the office, so he sure as hell wouldn’t want it in an even smaller (the Oval Office isn’t all that big) place. The linked article makes note of how this seems to coincide with racist RWNJ activist Charlie Kirk spending more time with Trump. Kirk in case you didn’t know doesn’t believe there should be a holiday for Dr. King. And that the 1964 Civil Rights Act was a “mistake.” Trump who lest we forget was raised by a racist Klan father no doubt agrees.
Well, I could go on quite the rant about all this but I’ll settle for just informing everyone of this appalling action. Things like this tend to get lost in the shuffle with so much going on. Still, it would be nice if the next time reporters were in the Oval Office someone mentioned the missing bust? And challenged Trump by saying “there was a statement it had been moved to your private dining room. Why not let some of us be taken in there RIGHT NOW to see if it’s actually there? It’s not of course. It’s stuffed away in some storeroom or closet as far away from Trump as can be.
Where it is NOT is the Oval Office as it still should be. Because this President is a racist P.O.S. and surrounds himself with other P.O.S. racists. Yet there is hope to be had. Racism comes in different forms and right now instead of black people brown ones are being targeted. Yet after a too long “funk” of despair and depression good and decent Americans are again finding their voice and getting back into the fight.
We’ve seen small examples here and there but this weekend, with all the No Kings protests around the country it looks like Democrats and plenty of Independents too are NOT going to roll over. Trump got major pushback at a time he least expected and if we keep the pressure on his flailing will get worse. I truly believe that. So, in that spirit I offer something to help inspire you to either get or stay active and convince others it’s worth the effort and will pay off.

Some aim for unity, others carve up and use. Calling these folks a horde of Visigoths and Vandals (who brought us the Dark Ages) is maybe even an insult to the Visigoths and Vandals who destroyed Rome. To be angry about what has happened over the last 40 years is understandable, but it is not MLK’s fault. It was our greed for rising property values, our thoughtlessness about anything other than our 401 (k) status, and our self-indulgence that have brought this scourge on us.

“Founding Fathers?” Those statues that were torn down were of Confederate Generals and leaders. TRAITORS every goddam one of them that should have been hung. Independence was declared in 1776, decades before the TRAITORS who’s statues were torn down were even born!
Oh, it’s also worth noting how easy it was to destroy most of those piece of shit statues. Although made of bronze they were made on the cheap. WAY thinner than a properly cast bronze statue which is why they bent and crumpled when pulled down! Most of the lionized Traitor Confederate Generals weren’t so great as they were made out to be. It simply took longer than it should have to get competent Union generals running things.
But what matters is those tacky statues you lament were NOT of founders, but TRAITORS who tried to undo what the founders created.
