They’re good at that, after all. So y’all, here we are looking at ANOTHER case where certain people aren’t doing what they’ve clearly been told to do. At least the flight to South Sudan didn’t actually lift off, if I’m reading this correctly, unlike the one under the aegis of Judge James Boasberg, where the deportees were on their way to CECOT in El Salvador because it wasn’t a “written order” until later in the evening. People? What a judge says goes! And there’s more of a mess going along with that (Kilmar Abrego Garcia), but that’s not my current subject. I’ve been watching for that, and I’ll do updates as I get them. But this time it’s Judge Brian Murphy of the District of Massachusetts. He is *not* happy.

The administration tried to transfer detainees to war-torn South Sudan without a meaningful opportunity to contest their removal to a place where they might face torture, a federal judge said Wednesday.

Eight detainees of various nationalities were placed on a flight early Tuesday, the judge, Brian Murphy of the District of Massachusetts, said at an ongoing court hearing. Attorneys representing the detainees have said it was destined for South Sudan.

“It was impossible for these people to have a meaningful opportunity to object to their transfer to South Sudan,” Murphy said, citing the truncated timeline and the fact that much of what occurred happened after business hours, when the detainees couldn’t reach lawyers or their families.

The “Department’s actions in this case were unquestionably in violation of this court’s order,” Murphy said.

The 17-hour window the detainees had before they were put on the plane Tuesday was “plainly” and “undeniably” insufficient, the judge added.

That’s pretty straightforward to me. Except DHS was very vague about what they did. And why in the h*ll were they going to South Sudan? That place has a level 4 do not travel there warning from the diplomatic arm. And they want to send people there? I think I’ll just move along to the next part and not continue on with my thoughts.

DHS officials didn’t confirm the flight’s destination during a news conference Wednesday. Yet Immigration and Customs Enforcement posted a livestream online of the news conference, labeling it: “DHS Press Conference on Migrant Flight to South Sudan.”

At its news conference, the DHS distributed a list of the eight individuals with criminal records who were on the flight, including migrants from Cuba, Laos, and Mexico. The list also included two men, one from Vietnam and one from Myanmar, who are part of the litigation.

The officials added that the detainees were still in the US government’s custody, per the judge’s order. “Because of safety and operational security, we cannot tell you what the final destination for these individuals will be,” said DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin. “A local judge in Massachusetts is trying to force the United States to bring back these uniquely barbaric monsters,” she said.

Uniquely barbaric monsters *snort*. Overthink much? They’re always being overly (and pointlessly) dramatic. You already know what I’m going to say next – see my eyes roll back in my head and come up lemons. I need a better phrase. It’s time to retire that one. But it’s still appropriate! Do they give these people lessons in obfuscation? But moving on, the quotes in this piece are from CNN, just so you know.

Murphy previously told the Trump administration they were blocked from sending detainees to countries that weren’t their own until they were provided proper notice and an opportunity to contest their removal.

The administration has maintained they had given due process to the detainees and that the court should stay out of their aggressive immigration efforts.

“We believe that the individuals had an opportunity,” a Justice Department attorney said at the hearing Wednesday.

“They couldn’t have called their attorneys if they wanted to,” Murphy responded.

Blah, blah, blah. They’re trying to hide behind a shield of words. This is a *judge*, folks. They know better. And they *know* the law. We’ll see what happens on this one. It looks like Judge Xinis is clobbering the one in her court about the same thing. Judge Boasberg’s case is still going, too. I wish more of the judges were in the news who are saying “h*ll NO” to this nonsense. But we have a few, and that’s a start. Thanks for sticking with me!

Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. It’s been an especially rough month, and my own health has not been great these past few weeks, which just adds to the frustration. Anything you can spare will be immensely appreciated. And thank you to all who have donated generously already. Ursula

    • Not like they did on me TWICE for not having a job and unable to pay 1200./month child support, all caused by an adultery by my wife of a dozen years. I was led out in handcuffs and legirons each time to serve 30 days in the Durham County jail. What did they think I was gonna do? Break and run? There are criminal monsters afoot all right. They now run our country. At least I’ve been trained as someone quite familiar with injustice enforced by guns. Good luck America. We look more like North Korea daily. A grotesque fat man with a God complex, who has no heart, and is evil calls the shots. People have unjustly died, been put in prison, and had terrorists aimed at them from the highest office. FACTS!

      • Ouch! And Ouch again! You’ve dropped hints here and there, but this is new. OUCH OUCH OUCH. (And yea, I agree on North Korea. We know that’s one of El Presidente Imbécil’s idols, after all.)
