Both retired California nonagenarian politicians Willie Brown and Nate Holden were startled to find themselves thrust back into the political spotlight recently, especially in the context of criticizing Kamala Harris. To recapitulate the scenario, Donald Trump claimed he “almost went down” in a helicopter crash years ago where Willie Brown, now 90, was a passenger. Supposedly Brown and Trump had a conversation wherein the former Mayor of San Francisco disparaged Kamala Harris, whom Brown dated briefly thirty-some years ago. It was thought at first that the confusion was with then-governor of California, Jerry Brown, who was in a helicopter with Trump when they went together to survey wildfire damage and Trump made his famous comment about “raking the forests.”
Willie Brown emphatically denied he had ever been in a helicopter with Trump or ever had any conversation with Trump about Kamala Harris. All this fracas evidently impelled retired Los Angeles city councilman and state senator Nate Holden, now 95 years of age, to come forward and say that it was he, “The tall Black guy in Los Angeles,” as opposed to “the short Black guy in San Francisco,” who had been on a helicopter with Trump which experienced mechanical issues back in 1990. And Holden says Harris was not a topic of conversation.
So that situation got resolved. But the short Black guy in San Francisco, Willie Brown, has said that he’s prepared to sue Trump to shut him up, if need be. And I think that’s a brilliant move, because Donnie Toddler can’t stand a taunt. And I’m reasonably sure that’s what this is. Brown wants Trump to have yet another reason to trip on his own shoelaces.
In an interview this week with CBS News, Brown said that he has never been in a helicopter with Trump and threatened to sue the former President because “somebody has got to make sure that he stops lying.”
“If he keeps it up, at some point, I’m going to give him a taste of his own conduct,” Brown said. “If he sues The New York Times for printing that I said he lied, I’m going to sue him.”
Facing questions about the validity of his story last week, Trump threatened to sue the New York Times. […]
Brown said he would “absolutely” sue if necessary “because I do not want any acquaintanceship with Willie Brown to be a negative for anybody, particularly someone as much of a dear friend as Vice President Harris is.”
Trump also claimed Brown “was not a fan” of Harris and told him “terrible things” about her which Brown, who dated Harris in the 1990’s, also denied.
“Not on a helicopter and not off a helicopter. Didn’t happen,” said Brown. “Nonexistent. He is so creative. I don’t know how he dragged me onto the stage on something that shouldn’t be, in any fashion, a distraction from the magnificence of her ascendancy.”
I love that last line, “the magnificence of her ascendency.” Nobody laughs at Trump harder than the Black professional class. Everybody from Black journalists to the presidents of Black universities (which Trump claims to have saved) to Black politicians. They all listen to the line, “I’ve done more for Black people than Abraham Lincoln,” and they roll their eyes in disbelief and guffaw.
I hope Willie Brown keeps talking about suing Trump because this is a good side show. Trump will lash back at any moment, I predict, or Palin-clone J.D. Vance will chime in and that will be good for laughs as well. Good show, Willie, good show. Keep it up.

The best way to deal with a pompous bully is to kick his ass! Jean Carroll demonstrated that!
Given the relative ease with which Trump manages to be so “creative” in his speeches and interviews, one has to wonder why he never chose to become a writer? Okay, you’re not necessarily going to become wealthy but, Donald started off with that. Granted, there’s no way to know that “Daddy Dearest” would’ve fronted him the money to begin with but Trump could’ve always just used a pen name for his writings while half-assing whatever business he started up as a cover (hey–he could’ve then achieved his other goal of living like a mob boss with a public “front” to hide his real business).
First a woman puts him in his proper, i.e. submissive, place and now a black man will do the same. I must say I’m liking this. I hope Mr. Brown gets after it regardless of what von shitziinpants does suit-wise to the Times. It’s so much fun seeing shitzi lose his shit and his money to his betters.
And BTW, when is Ms. Carroll going to get ALL the money the lying p.o.s. owes her? Seems like that needs to be hurried along and very publicly at that.
