There is no way to tell how he got this idea in his head, and what he talked about- well, it’s a niche thing and makes one wonder if he is in the closet for it. America does not need him in Congress if this is what he comes up with in his spare time. So this isn’t exactly politics, but it’s from a politician and is very strange. Next post will get us back to normal.
He made a speech in Congress yesterday. And this is where the weirdness came in. He thinks the sky is being taken over by furries. Don’t look that up. Please. You truly don’t want to know. And if you do, you have been warned. It was part of a speech on a bigger topic, in which he was trying to stir up … something; we don’t know what. The Republicans these days are getting strange and obsessing over topics when our *country* needs a whole lot of help.
How about some details from Raw Story:
“Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community,” said Tuberville. “Lord help us. It’s terrifying when you think about this. When you walk onto a commercial flight, it’s possible that the pilot flying your plane could have a deranged fetish of dressing up like an animal. You can’t make this up.”
Tuberville made this remark as part of a larger speech attacking the transgender community — complete with a prop board stating “TRANSGENDERISM IS A MENTAL DISEASE” accompanied by an emoji of a pregnant man. The digression into furry pilots was an example of how gender identity is supposedly threatening the U.S., although Tuberville did not clarify what he thinks furries have to do with gender identity.
Again, you are asked to please not look that up. It’s a lot bigger than what he claims. But really, who cares about that as long as they do their job well? They aren’t dressed like that on a plane. And what does it matter when they aren’t working?
Going to bat against transgenderism is old. It’s been talked to death. There are much better things to do with his time than rant about that. He apparently hasn’t noticed the state that our country is in. He’s in his own world. One of these days we’ll get rid of him, because he is yet another one to be kicked to the curb. And he is yet another one where you wonder how he got in here in the first place. Survey says: he was a coach. In Alabama. Well, that says a lot. Heh.
What is the point of having a fit about something that won’t affect him? He doesn’t *have* to fly. There are other transportation methods available. No one is going to grab him and drag him into the furry world, or try to make him pregnant. That’s not going to happen. So, instead, he rants and raves and wastes the time of the other Senators.
This guy is strange. Having him as a coach must have been strange. Has he done anything worth speaking of besides that? And wow, from a little look-see about him, courtesy of The Daily Beast:
Tuberville has a history of terrorizing the LGBTQ+ community. In 2023, he launched a months-long campaign against the Pentagon’s “woke” policies, holding up more than 400 military promotions for 10 months in protest of policies supporting LGBTQ+ inclusion and reproductive rights.
The blockade was so disruptive that one senior military officer warned the Senate the armed forces could take years to recover.
What the actual f! Years to recover. YEARS. Just what we need for our military stretched too thin. Yes, it was a couple of years ago, but the point remains. This guy is nuts. His worldview is so narrow it’s beyond description. It’s furries and transgenderism and LGBTQ+, but nothing for his constituents or the country. Why hasn’t anyone dragged him out by his suit collar? Figuratively speaking. He should be back in the 60s, or some such time when the worldview is suitable for his prejudices.
And to put the cherry on the sundae, he’s running for governor. Let’s hope he loses, and we’ll get rid of him. If he wins, sorry, Alabama. Taking a mid-sized dive into his history shows he’s a nut. It was a good idea not to go too deep, or the scream would likely be heard ‘round the world. Furries? Good grief.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
