This made me giggle. A lot. The man knoweth not of what he speaks. Israel’s people told him so in no uncertain terms. Laughter seems to be appropriate. I had mistakenly thought he was involved with SignalGate, but he wasn’t the partner in crime who managed to add the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. Nope, it was Mike Walz. So, back to our saga about Witkoff, from Raw Story:
Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, was shouted down in Israel Saturday after hailing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as being instrumental in the Gaza peace plan that was agreed to, in part, by both Israel and Hamas. “This moment was made through the tireless dedication of leaders who would not rest until the world saw what could be achieved, one of them standing right here with me, Jared Kushner,” Witkoff said to a crowd of thousands in Tel Aviv, Israel. Witkoff then proceeded to mention Netanyahu’s name in his round of thanks, only to be met with loud boos and jeers from the crowd.
Gee, ya think? Netanyahu is most definitely not well-liked. If he ever stops his stupid warring with some other nation, he’s getting pulled up in an Israeli Court of Law for his blatant corruption. This writer can hardly wait for *that* to happen. With all Netanyahu has done, it’s not a good look to be their ally. No one else in the world is. And with the genocide committed against the Gazan people, well, he may very well get pulled up in the ICC for *that*. You would expect we would be running far and fast away, because, y’know, genocide. How many people in Gaza have even survived this long?
“Okay, okay,” Witkoff said, trying to thank Netanyahu again before being interrupted by a second round of jeers from the crowd. “I, I, okay, let me just finish my thought. I was, I was in the trenches… guys, let me just finish my thought,” Witkoff said, as he struggled to tamp down the jeers from the crowd. “I was in the trenches with the prime minister – believe me, he was a very important part here.” Boos continued to ring out from the audience at every mention of Netanyahu, whose popularity among Israelis has plummeted since Hamas’ attack in 2023, with many Israeli critics accusing Netanyahu of deliberately undermining a hostage deal.
Yuh huh. It wouldn’t be a surprise to many people if he had. Netanyahu wants to stay out of court and a probable guilty verdict. It reminds me of Trump. It will be a lot more difficult to get Trump into a court and a probable guilty verdict, but we can’t because he’s currently the president. When he gets out, though, all bets are off. Wish we could find a way to try him for the insurrection (that he’s trying to whitewash, see Jason’s column here) and actually *use* Jack Smith’s information that was gathered.
But Netanyahu? Oof. It would NOT be a surprise that he continues the war on Gaza, or attacks some other random nation, just to stay out of court and not have to answer for his actions. It would be damn nice to see him get clobbered for what he’s done. Not hopeful about that, either. To close:
“The prime minister and his staff, Ron Dermer included, have both, have both…” Witkoff said, before again being interrupted by thunderous boos and jeers. “Okay – have both sacrificed so much for this country and devoted their lives to the service of Israel. Their dedication to the history and destiny of this nation stands out tonight. They’ve given everything – their time, their energy and their hearts – to building a safer, stronger future for the Jewish people. Their commitment to this country has never wavered and it never will.” Witkoff then invoked Trump’s name, which immediately sparked unanimous cheers among the crowd of thousands, who began to break out in chants, shouting “thank you, Trump!”
Thank you, Trump? Oh, please. Trump wants that Peace Prize and is doing anything he can to get it (I really, really, really hope he doesn’t). Since Netanyahu will go right back to the war to stay out of court and most likely jail, we’ll get the hostages back, but nothing more. How many people in Israel want this war to end? How many are completely over the genocide of another ethnicity of people (so to speak)? How many Israelis want the killing to stop? This has decimated their land, too. Netanyahu won’t be stopped. No matter what *Trump* does, he won’t be stopped. Will the US still be attached to Israel and this senseless war? Just … stop the killing. Please. Walk away.
Friends, I know everyone asks you for money. I promise you, of all the outlets asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

The Jews have been running an apartheid system on the Palestinians since 1948. They’ve murdered tens of thousands of UNARMED children. You are not innocent. Neither are we. We’ve pissed on the 1,200,000+ war dead since 1776 by giving the worst human the most power. Now you dumbasses that protested the situation by voting for the phucking devil can try to wash innocent blood off your hands. It didn’t work for Pilate…it won’t work FOR YOU.
