WHY, oh why, does Agent Orange have the hots for ending birthright citizenship? DUDE, you can’t EO this one and have it go away! It’s not that easy and I’m *glad* it’s not! Apparently it’s just another thing that he doesn’t like so he wants to get rid of it!
Well, the appeals have made it all the way to the Supreme Court after being smacked down in multiple lower courts. The Mango Mandarin thinks it encourages illegal immigration. As if that’s the only reason they want to come here! Maybe they want and *need* to escape their home country. Maybe it’s walk thousands of miles for a chance at a better life. Maybe it’s a way to get out of the hellhole of their country. And now you want to send them back?!
Yeah, he’s also working on something to speed up mass deportation. He wants to send them back to their hellhole, but if their child/children are citizens but they aren’t, it’s either lose the child/children or bring them along. That’s one hell of a decision to make. There aren’t always legal family members who can take them in.
But back on topic. “President Donald Trump’s administration asked the Supreme Court in a series of emergency appeals Thursday to allow him to move forward with plans to end birthright citizenship, elevating a fringe legal theory that several lower courts have resoundingly rejected.”
No means no. And they think with judges on tRump’s payroll that they’ll be able to do it. Gahhh. How many times does it have to be said? Since Traitor Tot never gives up, I guess the Justice Department won’t either, at least if they want to keep their jobs. They think they’ve found a way to wiggle around the 14th Amendment by not outright saying they want to get rid of it.
Here is the exact quote from their argument. “During the 20th century,” the administration told the court, “the executive branch adopted the incorrect position that the citizenship clause extended birthright citizenship to almost everyone born in the United States – even children of illegal aliens or temporarily present aliens,” the administration wrote. “That policy of near-universal birthright citizenship has created strong incentives for illegal immigration.” Really? REALLY? What a bunch of hooey. They come here for a better life. Remember I said above that they may have a choice between keeping or losing their child/children if they get deported? Oooof. Incorrect position? By the executive branch? That’s lame.
So the Orange Sphincter thinks that changing this law is going to mean fewer illegal immigrants. I don’t see it. I think it’s going to remain close to the same as we already get. Even in the crap condition of our country under the Cheezy Poof, it’s still a better life than what they had. And they *want* to work. They’ll do the things a lot of people would turn their noses up at, like cleaning, or harvesting. Why is that such a problem? I haven’t really seen anything off the top of my head that says they are a drag on the citizens of the US. They aren’t. They’re productive.
But he wants to end birthright citizenship because it encourages illegal immigration. They won’t have the surety of their child/children being an American citizen. Good grief.

On the whole “birthright citizenship” issue, I seem to recall that, during Drumpf’s first White House residency, a fairly large number of Russian women would “visit” Mar-a-Lago during their pregnancies for the SOLE reason that their children would obtain US citizenship

I have a sister-in-law who was born in rural Mexico in 1952. In 1964, her family moved to the US and acquired permanent legal residency under the Green Card program. My SIL never had a moment’s difficulty with her green card and didn’t even see a reason to change her status when she married my brother in 1981.
But, in 2018, at the pleading of her daughters who feared that Sphincter Face 45 wanted to harm their mother, she applied for citizenship. We all proudly attended her naturalization ceremony in 2019. 🇺🇲Okay, all is well. Except…now we have Sphincter Face 47 with insanely cruel ideas about citizenship and no boundaries on his Executive Orders.
And, he has no respect for green cards and residency (just ask Mahmoud Khalil)! If he pulls a new whim out of his ass, Sphincter Face could easily ignore that my nieces were born in the ’80s, on US soil, to a US citizen and a legal permanent resident/now citizen. Is it ridiculous to reach back that far to misinterpret the law and decide that my nieces were never eligible for what he might call “birthright cirizenship” because only one parent was a citizen at the time? Yes! Would Sphincter Face be able to act on such a ridiculous claim? I doubt it! Could he make the lives of my family, and others, miserable and needlessly stressful because of his latest ass-whim?! Yah, you betcha!! He could even enjoy our stress if his dementia hasn’t taken him beyond even remembering he’s doing it!
Don’t tell me the idea is too farfetched!! There is no one putting the brakes on this lunatic! The Republican Congress gives him everything, his Cabinet loves the lunacy for the sake its own power-mad lack of boundaries, the possibility of causing one or more wars doesn’t slow him down, and any hope for his family to intervene is long gone!!
