Many a true word has been spoken in jest. Plus, the essence of a good joke is that there has to be some truth contained therein. Think of that as you watch this *satire* of Donald Trump prepping with Stephen Miller for the presidential debate tomorrow. We are going to assume that it’s going forward until we hear otherwise, and again, I would not put it past Team Trump to find an excuse to cancel. They don’t want this debate. They don’t need this debate. This debate could be a very negative turning point and nobody knows it better than they do.

If the Trump portion of tomorrow’s debate is even this coherent, we’ll be ahead of the game. And I hope that Trump does decide that Norman Bates is the new Hannibal Lecter. That would be a good twist.

Will Trump show up? There are definitely two schools of thought on that. One is that he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. If he doesn’t show up, the optics will be horrendous. He’ll be called a coward and rightfully so. But if he does show up and provides 90 minutes of footage of gaffe after gaffe after gaffe then that’s going to determine what the opposition advertising will be from now until November 5.
Trump was out on the golf course yesterday. Maybe that’s where he’ll be today. Or, maybe he is prepping with Stephen Miller for all the good that it’s going to do. The plain truth of the matter is that Trump can lie at rallies about how he came up with low cost insulin, as an example, but the actual reality of how insulin costs were lowered, step by step and who did it, is a matter of history. This is the kind of thing that Trump can’t beat Biden on.
Trump is a showman and a phony. It’s only when he’s hugging flags and lying about the facts that he can impress his addlebrained base. He has no way to win any kind of a factual debate.
So what will he do? If he shows up he will be hyper defensive and childish, is my best guess. He may start ranting and raving until his mic is cut. Or, he may decide the stakes are too high and simply bail. Again, I give that alternative at least 50/50 odds.
And I want to be wrong. I want Trump to show up and be clobbered by Biden. But I wanted him to show up for primary debates as well, for the same reason, and you saw what we got. Bupkis.
Either way, Thursday night will be a turning point. That’s the only thing we can be certain of at this time.

So, if the Mandrin Messiah doesn’t show, Biden can spend the entire event giving his sales pitch. Not as entertaining, but not awful either.
Another State of the Union speech. It would be a shame for Biden to waste all those drugs he’s supposedly hyped up on if tRump is a no show. Just sayin’.
Another option would be for him to try and shout across the stage, when his mic is cut off. I would not be surprised if he tried that.
I expect that he’ll first try shouting across the stage to be heard and if he isn’t loud enough to be heard, he will walk over to President Biden’s microphone and yell into that. He’s disgusting, disgraceful, and can never be allowed to take up residency in the White House ever again!
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt. Mark Twain
I remember the joke Ron White used to tell about getting drunk, and thrown our of a bar. The cops were called, he was arrested and given the Miranda speech about the right to remain silent. He quipped, I knew I had the right to remain silent, but I just didn’t have the ability. That’s baby huey.
It’s true that more people should keep their mouths closed but so few actually do. Some people just like to hear themselves making noise.
