The conviction of Derek Chauvin did not set well with one and all. Particularly offended were people who think that it’s part of a cop’s job to kill Black men in the streets.
That's how I feel about this, if I was a cop I'd quit, and I think every major city cop should quit right now

Justice is DEAD and so is this country. An innocent man was just convicted of murder for a crime he never committed. THIS COUNTRY SUCKS!

Not a happy camper. And of course it goes without saying that the “Blue Flu” was threatened, widespread walkouts.
@thereidout Police exodus from large cities. Hopefully the police will learn from Chauvin’s conviction and stop enforcing the law using force or hands on until the situation is safe. Blue flu may be a good thing. @maddow @allinwithchris Police don’t have to enforce the law.

Anarchy is always an approach, I guess. You remember the philosopher Thomas Hobbes, who said that without government and society, life would be “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.” I guess you can always bunker down at home, put barbed wire outside around everything, the house, garage, whatever, fly the confederate flag, and stockpile beans, bibles and bullets — oh, and get some of Jim Bakker’s apocalyptic pancake mix, to tide you over until the rapture. If that’s living, you can have it.
Let them leave. Encourage them to. There is no place for police who think the law doesn’t apply to them.
Found guilty by a jury of his peers.
It’s kind of like threatening an agoraphobic with house arrest, isn’t it?
I think they expect a jury of his peers to consist solely of cops.
‘Protect and Serve’ (but only while you’re being watched – anything else do it in the alley behind a building with blank walls)
Yes, any policemen who share Chauvin’s attitude should leave right now. And good riddance.
Why, it’s almost as if they were afraid their own sins were about to catch up to them. Maybe someone should start discreetly digging into those?
I read somewhere around 20 years ago that predicted due to low pay, qualified professional officers are leaving the forces for better paying careers and as a result, police departments were scraping the bottom of the barrel and hiring woefully unqualified warm bodies to fill positions and predicted a future where these new hires shortcoming are on full display.
That future is now.
When Elvis died both the police and the firemen were out on strike in Memphis. The NG manned the fire trucks. We survived.
You have written a lot about the chronic victimhood of the right. Reading posts around the internet today, they are bringing that addition to bear with full force. The trolls are very personally hurt and disadvantaged by this verdict…supposedly…in some way they can’t make clear.
The racists are not going to let racism go down without a fight. Fine…let’s have that fight.
