The Republican National Convention is totally the $hit$how that it was expected to be. It’s a fact free freak fest. It has Katie Britt doing her Southern Belle routine and telling us all how we lived in paradise the four years Donald Trump was in office. Silly me. I have memories of $8 Trillion added to the national debt (and oddly enough, Nikki Haley has the same memory, damnedest thing, isn’t it?) And I recall 1.1 million Americans died from COVID and we were all out there scrounging for toilet paper and wiping our butts with coffee filters when we didn’t succeed. But not to Senator Britt. No, it was a halycon time, a time she can’t wait us to get back to. Here’s more reality the Republicans don’t want to deal with.
LOVE THIS! The Lincoln Project has sent dozens of billboard trucks to the RNC in Milwaukee to remind MAGA that Donald Trump has not only violated the 10 Commandments, but he’s also UNFIT for office! This is awesome! pic.twitter.com/23apUZBXSY

MAGA now rules. The GOP is dead. Mitch McConnell, who served the longest as Senate Leader in the history of this country was booed as he rose to nominate Donald Trump. He did a half hearted thumbs up with a pained smile.
And thus ends the GOP. The MAGAP will continue to use the word “Republican” for a while, we guess. But it is the MAGA party, it is MAGAP. And we need to defeat MAGAP. Here’s a thirty minute video that Rick Wilson did. It is a bit of time, but it is worth the investment.
I’m glad we’ve got some former Republican strategists on our side. It’s now Americans v. MAGAts. Tragic, but that’s the size of it.

What has trump done to increase the number of people voting for him?
Nothing.
What has Trump done to repel people from voting for him?
Plenty. A list?, where do I start?
he handled COVID poorly, spent about $100 million of taxpayer money flying in Air Force One to his resorts to golf charging us $500 a night for secret service rooms when he could have golfed in DC. looked like a buffoon on the world stage, didn’t accept the results of a free and fair election lying over 2,000 times that it was stolen. And even after admitting that he lost broke the law trying to pressure state officials to make him the winner. 40 of his staff say that he should never be in the oval office again.
The MAGApublican Party. Or maybe Trumpublican Party. Both names suck, just like what’s still called the GOP did even before Trump.
I have a question that’s slightly (or more) off topic: since the SCOTUS gave limited presidential immunity to (theoretically) any president, could Biden re-instate the Fairness Doctrine (or something close) before the election? Would it help with all the rhetoric going around, especially by the media who know better?
He could. Such a decision would be appealed and possibly, probably, be put on hold until it is decided by whatever court it eventually ends up in (up to the s.c.). It is only a policy which was abolished by the FCC so technically it could be reinstated. It wasn’t a law nor has one been created to bring the doctrine back (or permanently forbid it coming back). That said we already have a s.c. overturning established precedent dealing with federal government agencies being out of bounds doing the work they were created by congress, by legislation, to do. A government agency bringing back a policy that probably gives nightmares to six of the s.c. members, well, that policy would not be in place for very long. There needs to be legislation created to deal with this and that’s not going to happen while there are enough republicans in congress to oppose it. All the more reason to make sure that when we GOTV, we stress the down-ballot elections: they are vital-perhaps now more than ever.
and by saying “he could”, President Biden would tell the head of the FCC to reinstate the policy–not sure if said head would have to do so. Point is it could be reinstated.
