Take my word for it, this is not going to end well for the GOP. There should be no surprise that The Big Lie worked so well, after all, Trump started planting those seeds months before the election. Every Trump rally in the closing months carried the admonition that the only way that Trump could lose was if the election was stolen! When the results were finalized, Trump was able to bypass shock, and to directly to outrage.
But there was always one small problem with that strategy. While the prophecy may have been self fulfilling, it was at the same time self defeating. Because OK, you were right, the election was stolen, what now? The structural GOP base with functioning brain cells knew that there was no fraud in the election, But you have to be able to tell and show the base something to keep them in the fight.
Which means embellishing the lie. Which meant a series of 61 different state and federal lawsuits with the promise from Trump and the GOP that these lawsuits would flip the results of the election, and put Trump back into the White House. And what happened? The GOP went 0-62, and to the best of my memory, not a single lawsuit even went to s second hearing, they were all summarily dismissed. Once again the base is left waiting at the alter alone.
Which led to the disastrous, for the GOP January 6th insurrection on the Capitol. The plot was simple. Stop the constitutional certification of the cote, Trump proclaims an insurrection, the army leaves the barracks to declare martial law, and Trump stays in power. But the whole attempt was so pathetically transparent that nobody bought it, and the GOP ended up with egg on their face. How often can the base be disappointed?
Now Biden is President, and he’s knocking it out of the park, but the Big Lie is all the GOP has, so it has to be embellished again. Now the focus magically shifts to a series of unconstitutional, fraudulent fraudits and recounts in GOP states to overturn the election results, and put the crown back on Trump’s head. MAGA morons like Mike Lindell, and legal Rain man Sydney Powell are touting some wild conspiracy theory that Trump will be reinstated by August. Trump has chowed down on this like a bacon double cheeseburger, and other soulless sycophants have picked up the mantra. But you know who you haven’t heard a fucking word from? The Cyber Ninjas out in Arizona. They’re the pilot program. But they haven’t found a goddamn thing, and they know they’re not going to find a goddamn thing. Abd all of the rumbles from states like PA, FA, WI, and MI about forthcoming audits can’t help. The system works.
Remember when you were a kid? You’d walk into the kitchen where Mom was doing the dishes, and ask, Can I have a cookie? And Mom would say, Sure honey, just give me five minutes. Fifteen minutes later you’d wander back into the kitchen, where Mom was now busy making cookie dough, and ask, Can I have my cookie now? And she’d say, I told you dear, give me five minutes. A half an hour later, you skulk into the kitchen again and whine, Can I have my cookie now? And Mom snaps out I told you in FIVE minutes! How long does it take until you finally realize that you ain’t getting your fucking cookie?
This is where the GOP base is at now. They have had promise after promise bounced off of their skills, and still don’t have a cookie to show for it. How long before they finally realize that the is no cookie? Even worse, Trump made it clear in his speech last night to the NC GOP that his only interest is in relitigating the 2020 election. How does the GOP motivate the base to come out and vote in 2022 when Trump continues to insist that they wasted their votes in 2020, and offers no promise for 2022?
The Big Lie is a great exit ramp if you already know that you’re going to lose, and then quietly bow off into the sunset. But when you want to use it as a springboard into the 2022 elections, you can’t just keep relitigating the big lie, you have to give the troops a reason to believe it! And that’s where the wheels are starting to fall off of The Big Lie bus.

Well, if that was the “plot,” someone might have pointed out the glaring plot hole involved: Notably, that Trump spoke to the “insurrectionists” IMMEDIATELY before the “insurrection.” That, in legal parlance, starts off as “accessory before the fact” before becoming “abetting the crime.” As soon as Trump opened his mouth to address his “adoring fans,” he blew the plot.
I agree, it is almost comical, that the GOP lizards, especially Trump, went totally transparent at a time that would have to be totally blind to keep Trump AND the GOP clear, THEN, during all the attack of our Capitol, the frightened GOP was running for cover, guns drawn AND fired, killing the girl as she came through a window, stacking furniture in front of doors …
They didn’t get the memo from Trump, who was on the rampage in his mind, went back into the WH to watch the whole thing on TV …
Not sure yet, but Trump may have boosted the gallows out front as well, the perfect plan – NOT.
The GOP went into panic mode instantly, right back into transparency ever since with the stupid pouring out of them whenever on a mic …
They seem to be greasing the rails to their personal hell … no office parties, perks and for some prison time instead of vacations in the alps …
Maybe they can join Linus in the pumpkin patch waiting for the Great Pumkin to rise up. Or join the boys on Oak Island looking for buried treasure. Or…or…or….or…or…hey, Jimmie Hoffa is still missing. Try that.
