“The Epstein Effect.” You can Gauge It Yourself By Who’s Saying What In The GOP

Actually, I made a brief reference to this general issue a few days ago when I wrote in a previous article that I knew that the Epstein scandal had grown real, lasting teeth when the ultimate Trump toady, MAGA Mike Johnson came out from the podium and demanded the release of all of the Epstein materials. I wrote at the time that the only way the Trump GOP would cross him was if they had the MAGA base on their side to protect them.

That is now the case. Empirically. Because the calls have gotten louder, and are now including GOP toadies, especially in the House are coming out screaming for total disclosure. And they include GOP members, especially in the House that you wouldn’t expect to hear from.

It was former Florida GOP Representative Carlos Curbelo who closed the circle. He related that normally, it’s the GOP members who reside in traditional swing, or purple districts that are most at risk for these kinds of scandals, and are under the greatest pressure to follow popular pressure and demand change.

But as Curbelo went on, in this case, it’s actually the grassroots MAGA base that is fueling this fury, and they’re taking sh*t and excuses from nobody. That includes GOP representatives in safe deep red districts. These are the kinds of incumbents who normally sail through the primaries unopposed, raise a ton of cash they don’t need to clobber a Democratic sacrificial lamb, and go back to congress. They are insulated enough to be unaffected by most external controversies.

But not anymore. Right now the entire MAGA base is up in arms, and they’re out for blood. And these MAGA ballot mice are piss poor prepared to deal with it. It’s not that their seats are at risk to a Democratic general election. What they’re facing now is the very real threat of a GOP primary opponent if they don’t straighten up and fly right. And they’re scared sh*tless. As we saw in Virginia several years ago, when the Democrats had a challenger for every seat, when these political trust fund babies actually have to run to defend their seats, the lazy bastards tend to get their asses kicked.

Which is why you’re suddenly seeing so much internal pressure put on House Squeaker MAGA Mike Johnson. These cowardly GOP toadies have no intention of butting heads directly with El Pendejo Presidente if they can avoid it. So instead they get in front of a microphone and kick Mike Johnson’s ass so that they can show their MAGA constituents that they hear them.

This is only going to get worse, and Johnson is only going to come under more pressure from a caucus that doesn’t want a solution, it wants a scapegoat. But unfortunately for them, this approach is unlikely to work very well.

Because MAGA Mike has already cracked like a defective egg, and started screaming for Traitor Tot to release everything but his tax returns. He was apparently the first one to get the memo, and as a result has gotten in front of it. And if this scandal has done nothing else, it has finally dropped the scales from all those MAGAt’s that they’ve been nothing but bullsh*tted for nine years long. And I think they already know that MAGA Mike Johnson doesn’t represent their district, their incumbent does.

Here’s what to watch for, and since it isn’t a very big window, it has to be scaring GOP incumbents in safe districts sh*tless. After Labor Day, prospective challengers will start making final decisions as whether or not to throw their hats in the ring for primary challenges. If Traitor Tot continues to bollox this up, then watch for a whole bunch of rabid MAGAt’s to start coming out of the woodwork to challenge an incumbent in the primaries who hasn’t actually had to run a race in 10-20 years. If that happens, then Trump is toast. Burned.
