These folks are supposed to be lawyers. They are supposed to follow the law. They are supposed to do what the judge tells them to do. Well, they didn’t. And the case has turned against them just a tiny bit because they disobeyed. Oops. From CNN:

(Headline.) Judge (Margaret Garnett) says Justice Department officials may have violated the order not to post opinions about prosecuting Luigi Mangione. Two high-level Justice Department employees may have violated her order limiting public opinions about the prosecution of accused killer Luigi Mangione by reposting President Donald Trump’s statements about the case on X.

There’s strike number one. They were supposed to keep the news off everything, including social media. They did not. How hard is that to follow? “Don’t do this.” That’s pretty plain even to those of us who aren’t lawyers. And to those who are? It’s even plainer. Apparently, the DoJ thinks they can do anything they want to. How many other cases have been tossed out because they are ridiculous (looking at you, Jeanine Pirro)? Their AGs are hacks, put in place because Trump likes them, and they fawn all over him.

Lawyers for Mangione brought the X posts to the judge’s attention in a letter filed late Tuesday night, arguing the statements are prejudicing the 27-year-old’s right to a fair trial. Mangione is facing federal murder and other charges for allegedly fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year. “The Government has indelibly prejudiced Mr. Mangione by baselessly linking him to unrelated violent events and left-wing extremist groups, despite there being no connection or affiliation,” his lawyers wrote to the judge.

There’s strike two. Prejudiced. They just had to open their yaps and boast. They just had to re-show Trump’s comments. Even though we haven’t quite gotten to that part yet, you already know Trump is a moron and likes to make his opinion known, which is to blame the “radical left” and elevate the person killed to sainthood. (Looking at Charlie Kirk here.) Yea no. This wasn’t a “radical left” act. It was someone who had had enough. And he put a fair amount of thought into it (at least from my perspective).

Mangione’s lawyers said the troubling posts involve reposts of a clip of Trump’s interview on Fox News when he stated Mangione “shot someone in the back as clear as you’re looking at me.” A White House-related account posted a clip of the interview. It was reposted by the deputy director of DOJ’s public affairs unit, who works for Bondi and who added, “@POTUS is absolutely right.” The following day, his post was reposted by the chief of staff to the deputy attorney general. By Wednesday morning, Judge Garnett, an appointee of former President Joe Biden, responded.

WHAM. Strike THREE. Yer out! What a thing to repost! What a thing for our imbecile president to say in the first place! And yes, back to the prejudice. You don’t do that. You don’t disobey a judge, no matter what level she is. Remember Judge Boasberg socking it to them? (That’s still going, by the way. That man is awesome.) The same goes for Judge Garnett. You are supposed to do what the judge tells you to do, or tells you not to do. They didn’t. We sincerely hope that they get nailed to the wall for this bullsh*t. (There is more detail in the article.)

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s lawyer who probably has gotten him to do his sentence at home or drop the 2 prostitute charges and his wife Karen who prosecuted Harvey Weinstein and
Allen Weisselberg are so on it. Good for Luigi for trolling and catching the ding dongs at screwing up their own prosecutions. Wonder what Bondi used to say about Alex Acosta?!!

  2. The DOJ screwed up when the mouse that roared, Merrick Garland, sat on his thumbs for 18 months and ONLY started AFTER the January 6th committee forced his hand. Way to go Mr Flatline. Your self interest, timidity, and God knows what…in your flimsy reason to protect the integrity of the DOJ, set this up. What a clueless putz. I guess you’re proud of the agency that now bends to the will of a nazi. And here I thought Jews were smart.
