It’s as if he came out of retirement to give us this information. And we needed it. He identified a sign from Trump over the media bans, which were ridiculous little temper tantrums for the screaming orange baby that he thinks is the god (notice the small “g”) of America. Well, there are a bunch of us who think he’s just a baby and want him out.
Something surprising has happened. Something wonderful has happened. The media is standing together with the networks and political channels. They’ve stepped back and mostly don’t cover him anymore. There are always going to be a few outliers, of course. Everyone has bills to pay, after all, and they are not small. But they are standing shoulder to shoulder with CNN, MS Now, and so forth. Some try to be balanced and fair, and there are those like us that lean one way or the other. Fortunately (gahhhh), we are too small to get Trump’s attention. Actually, it’s good that we are too small. Saves us the lawsuit possibility (ha).
Trump certainly had no idea that this would happen. Even Fox News is in on it. It’s good for them to be there. When Trump realizes it, there are going to be manic AI posts generated overnight. Let’s hear from Mr. Rather, via and thanks to Raw Story:
Writing for his “Steady” Substack, Rather noted that the White House press corps is standing in solidarity — including one outlet that might surprise observers. “The ‘pool’ is the five news networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN) that provide television coverage of the president on a rotating basis and share their footage with the rest of the press corps. You will note, perhaps surprisingly, that even Fox joined in this effort,” wrote Rather. “In a moment of solidarity, the pool members said on Monday that they would suspend coverage of Trump, effective immediately. This is unprecedented and, unless something changes, will mean there will be no pool cameras covering his trip to New York this week.”
Now isn’t that a lovely thing to know? No pool cameras, which means no shared information, and anyone who is at whatever the hell he’s doing will not be able to hear him. It’s going to mean he won’t be covered near and far. It will be whoever’s local, and we don’t exactly know what Trump is going to do besides going to New York. Possibly to speak with Mayor Mamdani? Nevertheless, it’s going to be quiet for him on Air Force One. Maybe that will get him to realize what he’s done. … Nahhh. The explosion will be something to see.
This is going to teach us something, as well. If those sources are not getting any news, what are we going to highlight? CNN and MS NOW are big ones for me, plus Raw Story and AlterNet. Do we need to wait and see what the few members of the press put out? Actually, that’s backwards thinking. They can still give us news. They just won’t cover Trump, which is substantially better than the original train of thought. It might be nice to have some relief from Trump. Take a breather. Detox. That would be nice. Yes, it would.
