Now *this* is interesting. There’s more going on about the Epstein files from a very unexpected place. I was stunned. You might be or not, so I’ll present it to you and you can decide for yourselves. Either way, it’s interesting. From AlterNet:
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) turned heads on Tuesday when he joined the growing chorus of outrage among the MAGA faithful to demand President Donald Trump release all of the Department of Justice’s files on convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The Washington Post is reporting that Johnson publicly challenged both Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi to publish the DOJ’s materials on Epstein during an interview with far-right podcast host Benny Johnson. The Post’s Marianna Sotomayor observed that Johnson was a “close Trump ally and has never broken so publicly with the president on an issue.”
Ooooookay then. I told you this was interesting. Mike is likely tired of all the delays and has decided it was time for him to speak. Sounds like he’s tired of the whole Epstein thing, and is saying, put it up, put it out there. Quit dodging around. We already know tRump is on it from a few of the pictures we’ve seen. I would think it would be fairly simple to redact some of the information so as to protect the Mango Mandarin, or at least try to.
It’s unusual for the top House Republican to speak up partly opposing Agent Orange. That guy can do a whole lot of things to hurt Mike. But maybe he decided not to cower under the Orangutan’s thumb any longer. If you’re going to be worried about your position, at least let it be for something worthwhile, and this is.
“I’m for transparency,” Johnson said during the interview. “It’s a very delicate subject, but we should put everything out there and let the people decide it.” “I like Pam, I think she’s done a good job, but we need the DOJ focusing on the major priorities,” Johnson said of Bondi. “I’m anxious to put this behind us.”
According to the Post, House Republican leaders struggled to quell a “brewing revolt” on Tuesday during a vote to release the full Epstein files, which ultimately failed to pass by a razor-thin 210-211 margin. The resolution, which was authored by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), initially had bipartisan support from members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus. House Majority Leader Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) was seen arguing on the floor of the House of Representatives for several minutes with Freedom Caucus member Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), who ended up not voting for or against the resolution.
Y’know, they’re not going to be able to put this behind them until we have answers. All this obfuscation does is make everyone think there IS something to hide. Open mouth, insert foot multiple times, and the people want good, straightforward answers. If there is or isn’t information in these files, they need to admit it. They can release the little they have, or all they have, which I would guess to be a lot more because they keep hiding it. That was a mistake practically from the beginning.
The MAGA media world has also been hammering the Trump administration over the Epstein case this week, with far-right influencer Candace Owens joining the call for the Epstein files to be released during her Tuesday podcast. Owens posited that Trump’s sudden announcement that he would be sending more weapons to NATO allies to help Ukraine fight Russia was an attempt to tamp down Epstein-related fallout among his voters. “It seems like you think your base is stupid,” Owens said. “That’s how I feel. I feel like Trump thinks his base is stupid, or, again, because I don’t think he’s pressing send on these messages, the people around him think that Trump is stupid.”
*Someone* is stupid for saying anything about the damn case in the first place. And someone is stupid. So, someone is both types of stupid. Gee, who could that be?
Thanks for sticking with me!
We thank all of you who have donated. You’re keeping this blog on the internet, believe me. One of the battles we fight is the inconsistency of ad revenue because politics in this country is so polarized, and a lot of advertisers just seek to avoid the political. They’d rather advertise on food blogs and be safe, doughnuts before democracy. All we’re trying to do is stay in business because we believe the work is important. Thank you if you can assist. If we didn’t need it, we wouldn’t be asking. Ursula

once again it’s not trump it’s some unspecified staffer.
Wow. Candace Owens actually showed a moment of brilliance when she actually dared to say, “I feel like Trump thinks his base is stupid” but then she kind of backed off to put the blame on “the people around him” who think Drumpf is stupid.
I never knew that being so wishy-washy and speaking out of both sides of your mouth could get you a job as an “influencer.” I mean, that job sounds like you can “influence” people but how do you do that when you’re not taking a FIRM stance on an issue?
