President Donald Trump just received an astounding rebuke from the legal community that reveals how much worse his second administration is compared to his first, according to two experts.
You may enjoy the news, or you may be astounded. Or both. This is what the legal community has to say. How often do we hear about surveys for them? This is the first, or the first within memory. If the legal folks are saying this, well, yikes. And oh, hell no. Trump is worse. We knew this, but to hear it from a mostly reputable source (except for Blanche and Pirro, for 2 example of nope) is stunning. It goes along with our list of BadA$$ judges.
Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian discussed a recent survey that found 94% of judges and lawyers believe the second Trump administration poses a greater threat to the rule of law than the first in a new episode of their podcast “Civil Action.” Karnikian argued that the survey results were “astounding” and showed just how much Trump has eroded faith in America’s institutions. “Here we are. It’s gotten that much worse,” Karnikian said.
Ninety-four percent. Ouch. That’s staggering. What can be said to something like this, except to confirm we knew things were going downhill, but not like this. How about a judge being convicted of a felony because she let an immigrant and his lawyer out the side door of her court and not the front, because she knew ICE was out there? She lost her judgeship. Imagine being a person who stands for law and order, losing her position for doing something good. They caught him anyhow.
Trump has seemingly been at war with the federal judiciary since he was inaugurated a second time. He has lashed out against judges who ruled against him, including Supreme Court justices who struck down his signature tariff regime. Kabateck argued that the Supreme Court has helped Trump in this effort by issuing rulings on its so-called “shadow docket,” where the public does not see how the judges rule on specific cases. “People recognize that the shadow docket is a very dangerous precedent in the United States,” Kabateck said.
Wall of text, oops. At war with the judiciary. We’ve seen that attitude time and time again. Anyone who goes against Trump takes their professional life into their hands. That’s how our judge list got started, back last year. It has been growing by leaps and bounds. That’s also when the SCOTUS leader Roberts reprimanded him for thinking he could impeach judges who rule against him. Too bad the warning didn’t stick. We have a 94% agreement on what we have been thinking. And we shouldn’t have to have that.
