One could write all day about President Barack Obama’s ups and downs, but one thing would forever remain undisputed – the former president doesn’t do drama. It took forever to get the guy to just come out and campaign for other Democrats in 2018. It was 2020 before he really took to flight, and one gets the sense that he did even that begrudgingly, more as a favor to an old friend over lifting the nation out of COVID-Trump despair – though that may not be fair. So it was with resigned frustration that we watched the Trump administration’s bizarre attempts to divert attention away from the Epstein files with all kinds of chatter about “arresting Obama” working its way, cackling (and cankling) through MAGA land, all with no expectation to hear one word against it from the former president. He surprises.
On an otherwise completely unremarkable Tuesday in the dog days of summer, President Barack Hussein Obama did the unthinkable. He actually punched back against the most heinous talk about “treason” regarding the 2016 election – the one that Trump won, despite the obvious help from Russia. Herewith, the statement from the Office of the Former President:
“Out of respect for the office of the presidency our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House (Emphasis added) with a response. But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one. The bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction. Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes. These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.”
It is the reference to Rubio that makes it art.
Do also note that this cut a little deeper than it might otherwise have. Within the larger statement, there is a reference this “this” White House. He all but said “Trump.” Don’t think that what would otherwise be obvious doesn’t have some meaning behind it. He called out not “the White House,” nor the presidency, he called out “this White House,” and “this president” – though, for now, he didn’t put a name to paper. He didn’t specifically say “President Trump.” He didn’t need to, but if he needs, a name will come next.
This changes things a lot. Indeed, one of the reasons that one suspects that the White House dove straight back into “Russia, Russia, Russia – the dyslexic version” is that they could count on having a punching bag in the former president, a guy who was too high and noble to say anything back. That was then.
This is today. The White House, excuse me – “this” White House will surely take note that they don’t get a pass this time. No, from here on out, they are going to take as much as they give – just with better English and a more “presidential approach.”
No better time to get “dramatic” than when words like “arrest” and “treason” are being bandied about. Refer it to Marco Rubio to sort it out for “this” White House.

Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. We work hard to get you analysis that you will not find in the mainstream media, but all media have been hit hard since the big companies have gobbled up and monopolized commentary. Anything you can spare will be immensely appreciated. And thank you to all who have donated generously already. Ursula

I was disappointed that Obama didn’t campaign harder and earlier for Kamala. So if he’s now decided to remove the gloves and take on the current occupant of the Oval Office, without necessarily mentioning his name, all the better. We all know how easily Barack gets under Donald’s thin orange skin. In fact he lives there. So let’s have the smart articulate former president launch a campaign of harassment which will have Trumpler foaming at the mouth every day and have him raging impotently on Untruth Antisocial, on FUX News and into every microphone stuck into his awful face. Apex blood pressure, anyone?
If ever there’s a good case for a defamation suit against Trump, this is it. Accusing a former president of treason goes far beyond the usual insults and allegations that Trump spews against those he dislikes. Sadly, he’s gotten away with this stuff for far too long.
