It’s an open secret. Everyone just closes their eyes to it and pretends not to see it. Everyone who looks away is an accomplice. It appears that it’s familiar. No one wants to rock the boat, but some people have reached the breaking point, and they are going to try very hard to end it. We shall see what happens. Thank you, Raw Story:

A handful of Republican women lawmakers are leading the charge in Congress to expose allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against their colleagues – allegations, one Republican House representative claimed, that “everybody” knew about but remained silent.

“It’s complete bulls—,” one House Republican told Axios, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “Like you have all these guys sleeping with their employees, and nothing happens, and everybody knows what’s going on.”

Well, now, that’s … disturbing. It’s an open secret, which means it’s not a secret at all. It seems to be just the men that we know of. We don’t know if any of the ladies in Congress are dancing around with a staff member. We can hope not. Speaking as myself, that is not something to be done to be part of Congress. There’s a stake in this for me, and no, not in Congress. A long time ago.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has been among the loudest voices in Washington calling for accountability with regards to lawmakers that have been accused of sexual misconduct.

Last week, she vowed to publicly identify nine House members investigated by the House Ethics Committee over sexual misconduct allegations.

Last month, two lawmakers resigned after facing allegations of sexual misconduct – Reps. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA). And yet, according to the House Republican who spoke with Axios, full accountability was still far out of reach.

Wow. Accountability is out of reach for now. That’s unnerving. It’s certainly not something we wished to hear. Is every guy messing around with a girl? Will anyone listen to her?  We have 2 members who resigned, but how many more are there? How much is hidden that we do not know? It’s always a problem to get someone to listen and believe what she says.

I think it’s gonna take women burning down the house,” they said.

Mace revealed last week that more than $338,000 in taxpayer dollars had been spent over the past decade to settle confidential sexual misconduct and harassment settlements on behalf of lawmakers.

She’s also faced pushback from some of her Republican colleagues over her efforts, and broke ranks in demanding that former Attorney General Pam Bondi testify before Congress over her botched handling of the Justice Department’s release of files related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Women burning down the house. Apparently, it’s coming to that. More than $300,000 in confidential settlements. Yes, it’s over a decade, but step back a moment. That’s a lot of money for allegations. Someone listened to them, believed them. How many lawmakers were there to generate that amount? And how many men in Congress are doing it now? Here’s hoping the women do burn it down.

See you tomorrow!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
