Oops. Yet another example of not thinking before speaking. It seems to be a bigger trend than usual these days. At least when you’re writing, you can review it first. But this time, that didn’t even work. I’m no saint, I’ve said enough stupid things, but I really at least *try* to think. And I have the courage to admit I’m wrong. It’s like stopping lying – you’re going to get busted eventually if you don’t stop, and why have the stress in the first place? Now, I’ll admit to using quotes out of context, or some slanting of my writing, but that’s why it’s called an “opinion”. Thank you, Raw Story:

Several Democratic lawmakers appeared to have successfully shamed Rep. Mike Lee (R-UT) into deleting an online post Sunday night after the MAGA lawmakers’ own words were used against him. Amid ongoing chaos in Mexico sparked by the killing of a high-profile cartel leader, Lee took to social media in an effort to defend the use of masks by U.S. federal immigration enforcement officers, sharing a photo of masked Mexican cartel members to illustrate his point, according to screenshots shared by NBC News reporter Sahil Kapur. “Cartel hitmen wear masks,” Lee wrote, according to the screenshots. “Leftists aren’t complaining.”

Dude. Wow. Just … wow. He might want to move to Mexico and join a cartel, since they wear masks. ICE is not a cartel, even though it behaves like one. Oooo, we should send them down to Mexico. They can kill all the people they want and wear masks all the time. Now, that was sarcasm. The Mexican people are suffering enough. We don’t need to “help” them like that. And of course, we won’t let them come here to run from the violence. That part just *sucks*.

Lee’s post was immediately hit with rebukes from at least three Democratic senators, all of whom noted how Lee’s remarks appeared to undermine his own argument. //// “Yes. Cartel hitmen wear masks,” wrote Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in a social media post on X Sunday night. “That’s why ICE shouldn’t.” //// “Oh dear Mike,” wrote Sen. Christ Murphy (D-CT). “I literally couldn’t make our argument better than you do. The bad guys wear masks. The good guys don’t.” //// And Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii softly reminded Lee that he, likely without realizing, had appeared to advocate for immigration officers’ standards to more closely align with those of cartel members. “Mike, I would like ICE to have the same standards as a local police department, not cartel hitmen,” Schatz wrote.

SCORCH. *And* WHAM. (Two for the price of one.) ICE/CBP should *not* be like a cartel. And they are. That’s chilling. Add in that a US Senator said something like this. It makes one wonder exactly where we’re living. Cartel hitmen wear masks. Heh, they probably want to conceal their identities as much as ICE/CBP does. On the other hand, if they’re hitmen, it doesn’t necessarily matter what their identity is, since they have a license to kill anyhow. It’s just as likely that they’ll get killed as being the ones doing the killing. It makes me cringe. What the hell kind of life is that?

Lee has proven himself to be a fierce ally of President Donald Trump and is no stranger to having social media blunders. He’s also deleted social media posts in the past after facing backlash, including one instance last year where he appeared to mock the murder of a Minnesota Democrat and her husband.

We can safely assume Mike Lee is an imbecile. How do these people get elected to office? And what does that say about their constituents? America is supposed to be forward-thinking. Yet we still have idiots like this! Almost *everyone* has immigrants in their background. But Mike Lee is more than happy to have ICE/CBP brutalize, including in retaining “facilities”, people, and have them thrown out. Could we have *him* thrown out?

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Regarding Trump, Obama said he’s the symptom, not the problem. As usual Obama made a good point. Who and what Trump was was clear from the time he sharted his way down his fake gold escalator in Trump Tower to announce his candidacy. Enough (barely) voted for him anyway. And again in 2024.

Although sometimes they keep it hidden back where asshats like Lee are from folks tend to know said asshats are exactly that, yet vote for them anyway. It’s not a new thing or we would have gone through the Civil Rights turmoil of the 1950-60s. Or the robber baron class that actually ruled the country before Teddy Roosevelt came along and whacked away at their power. As Mencken said Democracy is the theory that the common man knows what he wants, and deserves to get it good and hard.

I keep saying human nature makes it difficult for us to admit, even to ourselves much less others when we’ve made a bad choice(s). People are far more likely to dig in which is why when so much of the public got suckered they rationalize the hell out of have been duped.

  2. What a radical thought,

“I would like ICE to have the same standards as a local police department, not cartel hitmen,”

These Democrats and their far left radicalism.
