Well, things just got a whole lot stranger vis a vis the 2024 election. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the man who said that Anne Frank didn’t have it as bad dying in a concentration camp as unvaccinated people have in the U.S., is running for president. As a Democrat, no less. Raw Story:
Florida-based attorney John E. Sullivan, who is serving as the campaign’s treasurer, confirmed to Raw Story that Kennedy is running for president and that the FEC filing is valid. Sullivan added that the Kennedy campaign’s plans for a formal launch remain in the works but that it is targeting April 19 in Boston.
The filing indicates that he would run as a Democrat.
Kennedy has teased running for president for several weeks. In a tweet on March 10, he asked followers for their help in deciding whether to run for president.
“If it looks like I can raise the money and mobilize enough people to win, I’ll jump in the race,” Kennedy wrote. “If I run, my top priority will be to end the corrupt merger between state and corporate power that has ruined our economy, shattered the middle class, polluted our landscapes and waters, poisoned our children, and robbed us of our values and freedoms. Together we can restore America’s democracy.”
Oh yes, a QAnon-loving Democrat is just what we need in the White House. Righto. So now we have this guy and Marianne Williamson running. It’s a free country. I don’t look for either one of those campaigns to last too long, but we will get some comic relief. In this case, the apple not only fell far from the tree, it rolled over a cliff and landed in the sewer.
So he’s running based on a Twitter poll? He probably won’t do as well as Uncle Ted. Hasn’t he recently appeared at white supremacist rallies in Germany? Don’t think that will help and his crazy anti-vax views would seem to be more in line w/the rethugs than the democrats.
He is no more of a Democrat than I am a Satanist. I don’t know what his angle is. He’s one strange bird.
I don’t know the Kennedys have always been a strong family for the democrats. I think the new democrats don’t like the way the old democrats operated that is why the comments in reply to the article are 99% anti Bobby Jr.. The new democrats or socialists are the reason I’m now an independent and voting conservative with 90% of my brothers. LBQT , BLM, CRT, Antfa and WOKE can all go to hell.
Booby Jr is a Kennedy in name only. And, FWIW, Massachusetts residents of both parties aren’t big on Kennedys.

The “conservative” voting you’re talking about is NOT actually conservative in the “old conservative” sense. Absolutely. I don’t think this is going to last. He did make that caveat about “if he can raise enough money” so I think he’s just putting his toe in the pool to test the temperature. I expect this to blow up within a short time.

Sadly, I don’t think it will be as quick and simple as you think. First, for reasons that defy logic seniors are a reliable voting block for the GOP. The cognitive dissonance between their “don’t you dare cut Medicare” or “better yet” “Keep your GOVERNMENT hands off my Medicare!” thinking (like I said – cognitive dissonance expecially on that second one – they can’t process that Medicare IS a government program!) means two things. First, because of and ONLY because of his last name people in their mid 70s and older who remember JFK and “Camelot” and of course RFK (the real one) will take RFK Jr. seriously. Second, his anti vax stance will appeal to a lot of people in this group. As for the money part, if someone like me can realize the things I just mentioned there are multiple mega rich assholes out there who will be more than happy to create a super PAC to fund him, and one or more will kick in enough cash to keep him in the race long after his expiration date which SHOULD arrive at midnight tonight.
So I go back to my original comment – the Kennedy family needs to step up big-time and denounce him. Starting right freaking now. And keep doing so whenever he pokes his head out from under the slimy rock he lives under.
He might possibly get as much as 2%, because of his name. But they’ll be attacking him for being an anti-vaxxer and associating with actual Not-Sees, and I don’t think he can beat those as a Dem.

We didn’t think Trump could “win” in 2016, either, but he “did.” It’s possible, Kennedy is a strange brew, but it’s possible for him to win a presidential election (I wouldn’t vote for him).
I mentioned him as crazy enough to run last week. Never saw the democrat part. Hell, grandpa was a nazi supporter. Guess he’ll make a great lawmaker for the imaginary land he lives in.
