This is fascinating. The Trump crap is getting pushback. People are already tired of the nonsense, and the call has been made to stop supporting him. Refuse Trump’s call to arms for people to prosecute for reasons created out of thin air. Refuse his prosecutions. Refuse his zealotry of if you’re not with me, you’re against me, because more and more people are seeing him for what he is – a power-mad, child in a man’s body who desperately wants to be liked and respected. President Donald Trump revealed his intentions to target three specific political foes with prosecution, whether or not charges are justified, and a former federal law enforcement official called on current officials to resist his corrupt orders. The president posted a message over the weekend – perhaps unintentionally – to Attorney General Pam Bondi directing her to pursue criminal cases against FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James, calling all three “guilty as hell” for indicting and impeaching him.
Oh, for heaven’s sake. He’s crabby with three specific people and wants payback. He keeps getting lower and lower. The fact that these cases and impeachments were actually earned (ha) against him doesn’t matter. Prosecutors will be expected to find *something*, ANYTHING to use against them. The fact that he screwed himself does not matter.
This is dangerous. The DoJ is partisan now. It’s one of the few places in the country that is supposed to be without prejudice, but now it is. Trump learned his lesson during Trump 1.0. Ensure he has loyalists in power, rather than those who force him to face the hard truths. Loyalists who will go along with anything he wants.
And people wonder why the reputation of the United States has been sullied. It’s worse than that. Our reputation is disappearing every day. Well, it’s because of this psychotic child that MAGA and co. put back in power. That’s why. It’s not just sullied now. It’s covered with mud and has rocks sitting on it, sinking faster every *day*. I apologize. I went sideways for a few moments.
Politically sensitive cases come through every U.S. Attorney’s Office on occasion, but McQuade said what Trump is threatening to do violates ethical guidelines and the rule of law, and she said prosecutors must resist his pressure. “In this new era of pressure from the president, U.S. Attorneys around the country must ask themselves whether they are willing to become just another instrument of political power,” McQuade wrote. “The rule of law commands that each person be treated equally in our legal system, regardless of rank, station, or popularity. Prosecutors would upend the rule of law if they were to make charging decisions out of fear of a president’s retaliation or to curry favor to keep their jobs.”
Ouch! That hits hard, does it not? Upend the law. Retaliation. Favor. If someone pushes back, they may lose their job. I would say it’s better to resign and tell the people of America *why*. Walk out with your head held high. Walk out because you believe in the law and not some petty politician’s bullshit. Yes, that’s a job loss. I would think it would be better than being threatened by Trump. They’ll be able to pick up work elsewhere. And if someone has a family? No contest. Protect them as you would protect yourself.
“Each must be prepared to resign rather than baselessly punishing the president’s enemies and simultaneously destroying the integrity of our legal system,” she added. “Anyone who fails to do so is unworthy of the office they hold. And a president who demands loyalty over integrity is unworthy of our nation’s highest office.”
WHAM. There it is. See my previous paragraph right before the quote. Yes, it will open up a lot of AG positions to loyalists. They can be fired. We know this. Some in the offices now will be fired for saying no. Walk out with your head held high. Isn’t integrity worth more?
