And you know what? Trump has been noticeably quiet about it. He has said *nothing*. Not a damn thing. Poland is a NATO country. We are, for now, still a NATO country. I don’t see a thing being said. We are the biggest country in this organization. And you know what? Crickets. From Raw Story:
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that several Russian drones were shot down Wednesday that had flown over the NATO country’s airspace, igniting a firestorm of criticism against President Donald Trump for his handling of Russian aggression. “[Russian President Vladimir] Putin embarrassed Trump 3 weeks ago in Alaska,” wrote X user “Maine,” a self-described Democratic strategist with more than 88,000 followers. “Putin bombed an American factory two weeks ago; Putin [is] now expanding war into Poland and Moldova. Putin has played Trump for a fool.”
Hasn’t he, though? Russia is doing what it wants because Trump is a wimp. He thinks he’s best friends with Putin. And he won’t do anything against him. It’s “accidental” or some such nonsense. What is he going to do now? Nothing. He might make a phone call to Putin. That’s about it. The promised Russian sanctions? Crickets. Trump does not follow through. I’ll bet he’s just going to bluster. Talk is cheap.
According to Tusk, the incursion was the first time in history that Russian drones had been shot down over NATO country territory, NATO being the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the intergovernmental military alliance of Western nations. Putin has frequently named NATO as the impetus for his country’s aggression amid long-running talks to accept Ukraine as a NATO member state.
Gee, ya think? I’ll bet Putin can’t stand NATO. It’s blocking his way to the new, improved USSR. And I’ll bet he can’t stand that. He’s already crabby about Ukraine fighting back. He thought he could roll right over them and annex the country within days. Boy, was he wrong. And then the chance of NATO allowing Ukraine into the organization? He *definitely* doesn’t want that. It will give him yet another country on Russian borders, and he *really* doesn’t want it.
“Hegseth is working on a very energetic workout video to respond to Putin’s aggressive military violation of Poland’s airspace,” Ron Filipkowski wrote in a social media post on X Wednesday. “Putin never would have launched drones into Poland if Donald Trump was President,” X user social media post, poking fun at Trump’s past claims that Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine “would have never happened” were he president at the time. The Maine Wonk wrote in another comment, “Putin embarrassed Trump 3 weeks ago in Alaska. Putin bombed an American factory 2 weeks ago. Putin now expanding war into Poland and Moldova. Putin has played Trump for a fool.”
Yup, Trump is a fool. Putin played him, alright. It’s obvious to the world. He’s not going to like this. I found no comments from him on news sites. He’s most certainly embarrassed. Hence, silence. He’s going to have a phone call with Putin and sternly tell him to stand down with all the drones in NATO countries. It’s going to have no effect. It hasn’t so far. I don’t see where it’s going to make Putin change now. This is war, and nothing Trump can do will stop it.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

I believe that Poland was on Putin’s to-do list.
As long as Trump is playing president, Pootie will roll through Eastern Europe
Trump won’t tell Putin to do anything, never has, Susan. Au contraire, it’s Putin telling Trump what to do. Namely, weaken NATO. Oh yeah, and while you’re at it, weaken the USA too. Try to cripple Europe and the Western economy with idiotic tariffs. Alienate all America’s friends, starting with Canada. And above all, stop giving support of any kind to Ukraine. Everything Trump does makes sense once you accept that he’s taking orders from Putin.
