Well, close to empty. And a stage, not a theater. But also close enough. Trump sent a message with a prerecorded piece for the prayer event yesterday. What happened is something both surprising and unsurprising. If this information has gotten to him, well, I hope they still have plastic up on the walls of the White House so they don’t get stained by ketchup. This pretty clearly showed that people are getting tired of Trump. It took them long enough. With appreciation for Raw Story:
President Donald Trump’s free, day-long event to “rededicate” America to God drew a notably sparse crowd at the National Mall on Sunday — with a recycled video message from the president himself airing to rows of empty seats, the Daily Beast reported.
The eight-hour Rededicate 250 gathering, billed as a “National Jubilee Of Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving,” was organized by the White House-backed Freedom 250 group.
House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared in person, while Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pre-recorded messages.
Of course, Moses MAGA Mikey showed up. He’s trying to be Moses, after all. It doesn’t work that way, but anyhow, the people who chose to record messages are surprising. Well, except for Hegseth, who is pushing a brutal Christian (supposedly) and a nasty version of it. The troops are uncomfortable because of what he’s been doing. Pardon me whilst I yank myself back on topic. We were discussing his taped message to mostly empty rows of chairs. We know he’s going to find out about this. It‘s surprising that he wasn’t rage posting about it last night.
Trump himself skipped the event to golf in Virginia, the Daily Beast noted. He posted in all caps on Truth Social: “I HOPE EVERYBODY AT REDEDICATE 250 IS HAVING A GOOD TIME.”
According to the Daily Beast, the three-minute video Trump aired Sunday was the same footage he recorded in April for a separate event called America Reads the Bible. Reuters photos captured dozens of empty seats during the screening.
Yes, indeed, they did, and it’s beautiful. We have one such at the top of this column. It made me laugh. Just like the parade last year, this was mostly a flop. He has big plans for big events, and then he doesn’t show up for any of them. People should know they can’t expect him in person ever. Even the message was recycled. That’s definitely a Trump thing. He won’t expend the effort to do something new because it will take time away from his golf. We all know what his priorities are, and they are either him or golf.
The National Mall can hold more than one million visitors, the Daily Beast reported, while the Rededicate 250 site had advertised only “several thousand attendees.”
Despite the visibly empty rows, Trump allies declared the event a triumph. Teen influencer Bo Loudon claimed D.C. was “filled to the brim with patriots honoring God,” while Deputy Assistant to the President Sebastian Gorka boasted of a “huge crowd.”
Heh. What’s their definition of huge? We don’t see it. It was a flop. They are trying to spin it and make it better than it actually was. Those empty seats say it all. Trump golfing says even more. Did they even bother with selling drinks to the crowd, or was it a bring-your-own? That would say something, too. But what we’ve seen is that this whole thing did not do very well. Gee, we wonder why?
Also, can you imagine the setup crew putting out all those chairs? Talk about tedious. And hot.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

When are we going to start talking about Christian Nationalism in a meaningful way? I’ve known for some time that it isn’t Christian and is super harmful to our country. All the events currently happening that are being called anti-Semitic, anti-Islamic, anti-Black, anti-immigrant and anti-LBGTQ are actually tenets of Christian Nationalism with its hate rhetoric that favors only white men. Actual Christianity teaches love of neighbor and helping others. I recently heard of statistics that show (for Kansas) in 2023 33% of people were favorable to Christian Nationalism while in 2025 that number was 37%. I’m guessing those numbers reflect a much wider breadth than just one state. Project 2025 has laid out the groundwork for this movement. Learn more about it and let’s stop it. Our nation depends on doing so.
I don’t know. It needs to be done, but Pz is so small that we couldn’t draw much attention. As you said, it needs to be done, but how? And where? I have no hope for anyone in the South to do so. But if we could get a northern state to get the ball rolling, that would be something. I have no hope that anyone in Trump’s ‘cabinet’ would do so. And with Pete Hegseth’s nasty brand of Christianity, I’m afraid that’s going to start a movement there.
So what I am saying in excessive amounts of words is I don’t know, and I have no idea who could get the conversation started.
