One characteristic that I find is true amongst the best politicians is that they are students of human nature. Politics is an interesting business, and it attracts an interesting breed. Pete Buttiegieg has been in politics for a while and he’s a brilliant and insightful man who knows who he has seen. In the clip you’re about to see, Buttigieg draws parallels between Mike Pence and J.D. Vance. There’s only a two letter difference in their last names and there may be next to no difference in their experience in bending the knee to Donald Trump. Pence came close to losing his life on January 6. History records that Secret Service agents and security guards were texting home to loved ones, worried that this might be their last day on earth. I wonder how much Vance has pondered all that, or maybe he thinks he’s exempt from the axiom, Everything Trump Touches Dies.

Pence drank the kool-aide. He may not have chug a lugged it like J.D. Vance did, but he definitely imbibed. The part that I found amusing was when it was revealed that he had spoken to Dan Quayle to see if there was “leeway” with validating the votes, right after John Eastman sent the crazy memo.
What that said to me is that Pence was looking for a loophole. And if he had found it, I fear that we would be living under a different form of government right now. History will record that Pence did the right thing. But if you read up on what was happening in those last crazy days, Pence went searching for a way to accomodate Trump, crazy memos and all.
We came very, very close to losing our way of life. We don’t know what J.D. Vance would do in a similar circumstance. I pray to God we don’t find out.

Instead he fell into his milquetoast persona, he must have been born with that, of “oh please may I have another kick in the nuts sir” subservience.
I’m sure vance will be no different except for one little problem: if he is in any position to steal an election, to destroy our democracy/nation, he will grab the opportunity with both hands and run with it.
You raise something that too often gets ignored – Pence went looking for a way to do what Trump wanted but wanted to make sure HIS ass was completely covered legally. He was worried that if he did what Trump was demanding he do and it did NOT ultimately wind up with Trump getting to remain President that he (Pence) would still incur the full wrath of Trump/MAGA. Worse, he could face legal exposure of his own and wind up criminally charged and convicted by a D.C. jury. Pence probably had nightmares of prison where “icky gay sex” went on and worried that even worse HE might get sodomized. Hell, maybe not just raped but gang raped.
So he went trying to find not just a justification but an ironclad (legally) one that he could get away with doing what Trump wanted. Luckily for us all he had enough working brain capacity to think ‘maybe I should go outside the folks I’ve been hanging with and check with some old-school Republicans’ hence reaching out to someone like Quayle. I’m equally certain he paid a small retainer to some old, wise Bush era attorneys steeped in election and Constitutional law and they too told him NOT to go along with that part of the plan to keep Trump in power. In the end, he committed what to Trump was THE unforgiveable sin – to look after his own interests and avoid any possibility of going to jail.
Pence knew he’d catch hell for a while but I suspect he never fully realized how much or for how long. The fact is, he’ll have to keep looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. So will “Mother” for that matter. His kids seem (thankfully) overlooked at least so far. But if Trump gets back into power don’t be surprised if they get doxxed. In which case THEY will never be safe again.
The bottom line though is that while Pence didn’t want to do what Trump wanted he was afraid enough to look at longer term consequences, and had the wherewithall to look outside of Trump World to get reassurance/justification that he could get away with it. He WOULD have done what Trump wanted if he was SURE it wouldn’t come back to bite him if the coup failed.
I know, Ursula, that Politizoom is squarely behind Biden and I still feel that way, too. I love Cool Joe 😎 and I work hard for him. I am worried, though, about what is starting to look like handwriting on the wall. And, that brings up what AOC is warning about…that the “elites” wanna dump Harris, too. I’m awake at night worrying over that disastrous possibility so I’m trying to figure out if straddling two worlds is possible. I am seeing a lot of energy on the internet for a Harris/Buttigieg ticket if Biden gets forced out. I support Biden. If the worst happens, I would fight like hell for Harris/Buttigieg! Not only are they both brilliant and experienced, my heart woul soar just looking at the American beauty of that First and Second Families photo!
The ‘elites’ don’t want a black woman at the top of the ticket or even next in line. A lot of ‘liberal’ democrats are closet racists. They also don’t believe she could win. Throw her to the side and I GUARANTEE YOU millions of black voters would be lost.
Speaking of pence…he’s an evil sob who misused funds intended to fight aids in his home state allowing God knows how many gay men die of the disease. When I hear ‘evangelical Christian’, I hear an ignorant asshole who is a self proclaimed ‘expert’ on something THEY COULDN’T POSSIBLY BE AN EXPERT ON…one man’s life 2000+ YEARS AGO!!! They just want to believe they are on the side that will insure eternity will treat them kindly. The irony and the evil is they are directly opposed to any teaching that is found in the Bible. We DO know what Vance will do. He has STATED he WILL do what Pence would not. The bastards have hedged all of their bets. They have people installed around the country who will NOT follow the law and who WILL do what they ask of them so no matter WHO wins, THEY WILL.
Asking Dan Quayle for advice reveals just how dumb Pence is. If he wanted an expert opinion from someone smart, he’d have gone to Marilyn Quayle, Dan’s wife She’s the brains in that couple.
Pence was desperately trying to find away out. He very likely had no idea what was going g to.happen on January 6, but he knew that defying Trump was and to.his political.life. He wanted to.find a good legal way to avoid this mess, and he had to choose between the politically beneficial move and what his evangelical Christian conscious told him was the right thing to do. I think he chose what he figured would be the easiest way out,figuring Trump would appeal.to “his SCOTUS.” I am.actually surprised Trump didn’t do so.
He was never a very bright guy, and has,all the charm of plywood,but can probably leverage his way into the presidency of some Bible college. Not exact how he hoped to end his career,I suspect.
