It’s interesting to see the plummet in the quality of the Director of the FBI from the days of James Comey and Christopher Wray to what we have now in Kash Patel. It’s more jarring than looking at a picture of Cro-Magnon man compared to modern day Homo Sapiens. Comey and Wray were recognizable types. They were clean cut, educated, well spoken, buttoned down, they looked and sounded and conducted themselves like FBI directors. Kash Patel looks and sounds like he’s just escaped from a psych ward ten minutes after the meds were administered and ten minutes before the laxatives kick in.

Patel and his *deputy director* Dan Bongino, have been going on Fox News, the Joe Rogan show and other outlets and breaking every rule in the book — like talking about open investigations. That is a no no. Plus, neither one of them seem to know a conspiracy theory from an open investigation. And then there’s this. I’m not even sure what category of gaffe this comes under.

“I know my lane and that ain’t it.” Wow. So we are to assume that not only does Elon Musk and DOGE have access to all the data on every American — with the blessing of SCOTUS — but Elon is so far beyond reproach that it’s unsafe to even comment on what files he may or may not have examined on any given day?

Now here’s an even more germane question: Is Patel scared to cross Musk? If this is the case, then parse through what that says about the state of the FBI: the FBI is supposed to be an independent investigatory arm of the Department Of Justice. But Director Patel is telling us, correct me if I’m wrong, that a former temporary government employee is way beyond the purview of the Federal Bureau of Investigation? And may we presume the DOJ as well? And maybe even the Oval Office itself?

Could Director Patel perhaps explain what “his lane” is, and what it encompasses? Because here’s something else you won’t find inspiring. As a matter of fact, this may keep you awake at night.

“Thousands of hours” vs. “none.” That is a wee bit of a discrepancy. But then in all fairness to Patel, what Pam Bondi says in press conferences about legal filings and what the legal filings themselves say are usually two very different things.

We know that Dan Bongino said that his job at the FBI consisted of “staring at the four walls” and is that what he and Patel do? They just stare at the four walls, maybe play a little ping pong or mahjong, and look the other way while Elon and his buddies come in and grab whatever they want? Something along those lines?

Isn’t a relief to know that you live in a day and age where “only the best people” are in government? Maybe Linda McMahon could take over the FBI and Patel could run the Department of Education. Why not? It makes completely as much sense as the current arrangement we have, why not play musical chairs?

I loved McMahon’s comments before Congress the other day. Amongst other things she was asked, “Is teaching about the Tulsa massacre illegal DEI?” McMahon clearly had never heard of the Tulsa massacre and she said, “I’d like to look into that and get back to you.” Maybe McMahon should have just said, “I know my lane and that ain’t it.”

Could we have each of Trump’s cabinet members and appointees explain for us, in 500 words or less, what their “lanes” are and how those parameters were arrived at? I sincerely believe that this would be an enlightening exercise.

  1. I’d like to know why Alex Jones is able to be posting anything. The man should be in jail, not posting his “support” for anyone.

As for Bongino and Patel, well, we know Bongino’s been whining about how “hard” his job is (then again, he’s much like Drumpf in that regard since Drumpf only wanted to be President for the “glamour” of the job, not all the real day-to-day work involved) but Patel’s been spending most, if not all, his time as “Director” playing around in Vegas (the houseboy–I mean, “guest”–of some millionaire-class type) so he’s probably not having as tough a time as Bongino. I don’t really have any familiarity with the exact details of the job of either the Director or Deputy Director of the FBI but I would imagine the Deputy Director has to do the Director’s job as well when the Director is “away from the office” (maybe Bongino wasn’t aware that Patel would be “away” so much when he agreed to take the Deputy position, figuring he’d just have a few things to do here and there).
And, granted, there is a lot that can now be done “remotely” (so ironic that the many government workers who were forced out earlier this year in the DOGE purges were told they HAD to get into the office if they wanted to keep the jobs they’d been doing so well from home for the last 4 years or so but the “bosses” are allowed to keep their jobs and do all the “remote” work they want to–when they want to, it seems in Patel’s case) but you’d think the FBI director would be one of those gigs that would need to be done in DC, given the job’s EXTREME sensitivity. Even though government servers are among the most secure (at least they were until the Muskrat’s toy boys got in there), there’s still some incredibly sensitive material–especially pertaining to ongoing and pending investigations–that should NEVER be discussed over anything but the most secure lines (even then, some of that should only be done in live, face-to-face, in-person meetings).
