If he builds it they will be sent there. They will disappear without a trace. They will be isolated and alone.
We’re building a concentration camp at Guantanamo Bay. There is a picture that shows the tent city is already going up. He’ll send not just criminals, but regular people who have committed no wrong. People who have been swept up in raids. Will they ever be flown out? Or will they stay there like some prisoners have been for more than 20 years? Can we hope they won’t be tortured and abused?
So many questions with no real answers. I don’t like the wait and see attitude for this. It would likely be far too easy to slip back into the Gitmo mindset for what the place was primarily used for some years ago. I can understand criminals being sent there, since ICE doesn’t have the capability to keep them here at home. But regular people? It looks like they’ll all get flown out to this place and forgotten. What about their families? Will they disappear from them? And let’s hope families don’t get sent out there. That will be just flat out dangerous. The majority of immigrants just want a better life for themselves. And they’re being sent back to the places they tried to break free of. How ironical that they walk all this distance to the border, and then get sent back to the very place they were trying to escape in a matter of hours.
Will the people waiting at the border get sent back of they don’t try to get into the US? Will they ever be allowed to submit the papers to come in? Or will it just be closed, and they have nowhere to go. Will we be wrecking them and their families emotionally? Will they just be stuck out in the weather with no food or water and no shelter? What’s going to happen to all those people? They can’t walk back because they have no money and no supplies and no way to get more. The Great American Dream has been shattered, not just for them, but for us. Our country is going downhill fast if you’re not rich, and most of us aren’t.
What’s really going to happen out at Guantanamo Bay? We have no public oversight, so we don’t know and have no way of knowing. I’m sure the Confused Carrot is rubbing his hands together with glee. He’s actually following through on his immigration promise. Get all those less-than-human people out of his country. He hasn’t thought this through. And again, he doesn’t think. He just waves his magic wand and says do this, and it’s done. So, he doesn’t *need* to think. People put Executive Orders in front of him and he signs them. I’d bet he doesn’t even read them. Did you know he’s done more EOs in his first 10 days than other presidents have done in their first 100 days?
We need to know how they are handling things at Gitmo. We need to know they’re being treated humanely. We don’t need to let this slip into the shadows. We need to remember these are people, not garbage. What’s going to happen at Guantanamo Bay?
