Okay, so if Mitch McConnell comes out and says something about it, you would think it would behoove you to listen! And if Mitch McConnell says he was lucky to survive polio through the miracles of modern medicine, and a mother’s love, yes, you LISTEN!
RFK Jr is *already* going after the polio vaccine and I don’t think he’s even been interviewed by the Senate, let alone have the actual chance to be confirmed in the position of head of HHS! This is pretty blatant already in how early he is starting on vaccines, and he doesn’t seem to “get” what that vaccine means and how it prevents (99% of the time) a debilitating or sometimes deadly, disease! I don’t think any of us can see the future, so how is he so sure he will be confirmed? And I pity the lawyer who gets to deal with him and his inanity. I know I already ranted about this chucklehead before, but he’s an easy target. What in the holy HELL does he think he’s doing??!!! It takes a lot more than a show of hands to get confirmed for a cabinet position, so he’s putting the cart before the horse and he doesn’t have a cart OR horse yet. I’m seriously wondering if his brainworm didn’t eat the part of his (admittedly minuscule) brain that has (had!) common sense in it. Has he not even bothered to do a single search online for what polio IS and what it DOES? Or is his excuse for a brain not even able to think how you go to the search bar and type in “polio”?
This just gets worse and worse. The man is on a slippery slope and it’s getting steeper! Pretty soon he won’t be able to stop himself from sliding, and I damn well hope he’ll shoot into the ocean and drown. (Okay, there are a number of people who ought to do that, but I’m looking at my top 5 here.) Why, why, oh why can’t we have someone with a BRAIN in this position? It’s not nearly as simple as he *thinks* (or doesn’t think) it is. Not to mention, as I’ve previously said, he’s antivaxx but has his children immunized. So. Which. Is. It??? You can’t skate a middle line on vaccines. They work for the majority of the people in this world (probably minus that 1%, and I apologize to the people who *did* get the disease.) But still!
I have so much anger and disgust and frustration about this in my head that I can’t find the right words to say more.

You would think he would realize the polio vaccine is a personal issue for Mitch McConnell, who holds a lot of power over his confirmation. Is he really that stupid? Are they doing a loyalty test? It just doesn’t make sense.

The disease exploded in 2018 in Samoa after an RFK visit sponsored by anti vaxxers: in a population of 200,000, more than 5,700 were infected and 83 died, almost all of them young children.

Extrapolate those figures to the USA and instead of 85 dead, there would be 145,000 dead.
And that’s just measles, add in polio, mumps, rubella, whooping cough and all the other formerly dead diseases and RFK could kill more people than the Covid pandemic, kill tourism to the USA and kill foreign travel by Americans to anywhere else including Mexico and Canada.
Not that he’d care, he’s vaccinated, just like Mr Trump is.

I got measles when I was ten. Mom caught it frim.me and became incredibly sick, close to being hospitalized. It isn’t a mild sickness,,but can kill.
One reason I get the flu vaccine every year is that I get deathly ill frim.H1N1. I spent my 19th birthday in the college infirmary. I was sick for weeks,as a kid, then later in 76-77. I almost didn’t make it to my own wedding.
It really hasn’t been pointed out enough that tRUMP doesn’t CARE if the department heads know ANYTHING about the department he wants them to run. In fact, if they’ve been busy for years trying to END a department, that person is more likely to be nominated first. The other pipeline is payola, just like Cruella DeVos did in 2016 with her $9 million donation to buy the Education Secretary position.
Linda McMahon has apparently donated $10 million to tRUMP to buy the position this time around. WWE spouse with NO degree. This is BAD.

Note: McMahon’s bachelor’s degree was in French, and her program prepared her to teach French. Perhaps she got confused, especially years after the fact, and thought that her degree was in education because her degree had qualified her to teach. Definitely a slipup on her part; perhaps too many years had passed. She graduated only a few years ahead of me. Back then (in Texas, anyway), it was routine for future teachers to get degrees in education rather than in the subject they planned to teach. Perhaps she mistakenly “remembered” that that was what she had done. I think that we would do better to focus on the $10 million donation and less on what degree she received.
