I thought the cliche of the evil small town sheriff was limited to the Deep South? I guess not. News is breaking that Republican Portage County, Ohio Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski posted a piece on Facebook this weekend asking constituents to jot down the names and addresses of people who post Harris/Walz signs in their yard. The “logic?” Why, this way the inhabitants of said homes can be made to house immigrants, whom he calls “locusts.” It puts you in mind of that sci fi movie, District 9, where the space aliens were called “prawns” and kept in a ghetto. Wow. But never fear, it gets worse.
“When people ask me…What’s gonna happen if the Flip – Flopping, Laughing Hyena Wins??” Zuchowski wrote.
“I say…write down all the addresses of the people who had her signs in their yards! Sooo…when the Illegal human “Locust” (which she supports!) Need places to live…We’ll already have the addresses of the their New families…who supported their arrival!”
Another dummy who can’t write a simple, declarative sentence in English without random capital letters and ellipses. Sweet Jesus on a bagel. And this man is an elected official.
The post, which also features images of Fox News hosts’ reports on immigration, was met with widespread backlash and alarm in the community. Zuchowski shut off comments on the post, but it is still up as of this writing.
According to the local newspaper The Portager, at least two comments were left by residents saying they would be tracking down the homes of Harris supporters. One replied with the name and street of a person they said was a Harris supporter and said, “I’ll add that name to the list.” Another said, “Making a list and checking it twice.”
In response to the post, Portage County Commissioner Tony Badalamenti annouced his resignation. “This is not the leadership I want to be part of,” Badalamenti said a video post.
“[Zuchowski] posted that we should all copy down the addresses of the people that display political signs which are different from our beliefs,” Badalamenti said. “It scares people. It’s called bullying, from the highest law enforcement official in Portage County.”
You’ve got a bullying cop scaring the citizens of the town into doing his bidding. The other show that this reminds me of is American Gothic, although arguably the Satanic sheriff played by Gary Cole had a certain kind of anti-hero charm. There was some dark comedy between him and the evil/sexy Corvette-driving school marm, as they proceeded to wreck peoples’ lives. This sheriff is just a plain, generic thug, without any amusing trappings or allies — so far as we know. This is one of those You Can’t Make This Shit Up moments, so who knows what we’ll find out next.

When the dems have the executive and both houses of congress, the first thing on the agenda MUST be reforming the courts starting with the s.c. This kind of crap can only go on when the nation’s court system is so corrupt and f*cked up that people like this criminal f*ck can even be in law enforcement. Countries with law abiding courts generally have law abiding law enforcement.
Let’s write down all YOUR addresses also. Let’s know where the racist nazis live! You know…just in case we need it.
The Texas Observer did a piece entitled “Lawmen Above The Law”. The report mentions a book titled The Highest Law in the Land by Jessica Pishko. It describes how sheriffs do not have to have a law enforcement background to qualify for the office. They also have very few checks on their authority, yet they are in charge of large budgets and running facilities like county jails.
Nah, Ohio hit bottom way earlier: its name is Jim Jordan.
Jordan only represents a ridiculously gerrymandered district (it takes some serious crazy to draw one to ensure he keeps winning) but Vance represents the whole state. I think your assessment is correct but Vance seems determined to replace Jordan as the worst Ohio Republicans have ever produced. As for Jordan he seems kina quiet by his standards lately. Maybe he likes someone else catching all the sh*t for a change. However he’s an attention whore so at some point he’ll be popping up again. Consider this horrible scenario. Jordan never aspired to be Speaker until McCarthy’s downfall. He’s LIKED sitting there in high profile committee hearings without his freaking suit jacket. He gets to play big shot and grandstand and rake in the donations from it. Not to mention being feted at conservative gatherings as some folk hero. A Speaker doesn’t chair committees and even Jordan would have to wear a jacket most of the time and worse, semi-behave himself. Plus there’s all the administrative stuff and I doubt he actually knows the arcane workings of the Chamber and the rules the way people think he does. Still, a Speaker wields ENORMOUS power and one who knows how to use it can, as history has shown us be the second most powerful person in DC. More so than the Majority Leader of the Senate so when some of the gang came to him with him being the one to replace McCarthy Jordan decided to go for it.
He screwed over Scalise and what would have been a fairly orderly transition and Scalise hasn’t forgotten. A lot of other Republicans know about it and might have a hard time handing him the gavel if Moses Mikey gets tossed aside. They have every reason to believe since Jordan would do what he did to Scalise he’d throw any one of them under the bus in a heartbeat, and his ego is possibly Trumpian in level. He might well be a “Worship me like you do Trump and do so publicly or I’ll break you” type of Speaker.
Still, if Johnson engineers the prevention of a shutdown without getting GOPers the immigration (and who knows what else?) stuff he’s almost certainly gone. That means, right before the election another House GOP Cluster F**k and that would be fatal to Trump, any hopes of maintaining their majority and probably cost the Senate too. If Jordan pushes for the job House Republicans might see it as their only option. And many secretly hope the GOP still loses their majority and Jordan is only Minority Leader. It might give them a shot at whittling him down to size and dangling being Ranking Member of Judiciary and Oversight again might appeal to him.
However in an October that’s sure to be a sh*t show the prospect of a ‘Speaker Jordan’ emerging to throw FLAMING shitballs on the fire is a revolting one.
