I’m having A Clockwork Orange flashback, wishing Trump was the character Alex with his eyes held open and having to watch Desi Lydic’s Daily Show sendup of his MIS-use of the Army to celebrate his birthday. (That’s exactly what Trumpty is doing this week and he’s clearly not waiting for Saturday!) I won’t apologize for wishing the Orange Anal Orifice we know as Donald Trump had to watch himself being mocked this way. On a continuous loop. Lydic started off making fun of Trump’s dumbass mixing of metaphors and didn’t let up.
I’ll include the segment at the end, but funny as it was The Daily Show made some troubling points. Think back on this week. We have Trump for the first time in six decades using the Presidency to deploy the National Guard over the objections of a state’s Governor. Only this time it wasn’t federal troops protecting black people’s Civil Rights in Alabama. No, Trump wanted federal troops to bust heads, shoot tear gas and rubber bullets and so on to a relatively small bunch of protesters in a three square block area of Los Angeles. The LAPD was quite capable of handling things in that three square block area and there was little damage. L.A. wasn’t “burning” as Trumpty would have you believe. But he wanted to put on a MAGA TV show, and to spice it up deployed 700 active duty Marines to the area too! WTF?
Not all of this country gets their news from Fox (and other RWNJ outlets) so this Trump TV show hasn’t played well with most of our country or around the world. So there’s that. Yesterday we had the spectacle of him addressing a handpicked crowd of 82nd Airborne soldiers at the recently renamed for a Confederate General Ft. Bragg. (Don’t give me any ‘the sign cites not Braxton but a different Bragg. EVERYONE knows Trump renamed it for the confederate general!) The Daily Show segment doesn’t mention it but Trump didn’t stick to touting Ft. Bragg, he also talked about renaming other bases back to Confederate Generals!
Lydic’s satire noted of how inappropriate it was to use troops as props for this crap. She also made clear some special screening had taken place to ensure those troops present were loyal to Trump. (So much for their oath to the CONSTITUTION) In addition to making sure the guys (you think any women soldiers would have been allowed in the camera shots?) were going to cheer for Trump, one item in the screening memo she noted stood out: ‘No fat soldiers.’ It’s not like our military has fat people running around. The Army, like the other branches has fitness standards. That some asshat would include that in the ‘only the right soldiers allowed’ memo wouldn’t know that is kind of strangely funny.
Still, Trumpty got them to boo the former Commander-in-Chief (WTF?), California (again, WTF?) and the media (yet again WTF?) and cheer for him. This is appalling on so many levels but also an illustration of how pathetic a creature Trumpty is that he needs to use the powers he holds in such a way as to turn our troops into MAGA props to stroke his ego. I say good job Daily Show for exposing all this with some humor that might make the point stick in people’s minds.
Then things turned to the bigly parade in DC on Saturday and the cost. The segment pointed out some 16 million has been budgeted from the estimated $45 million price tag (which will surely wind up being higher) just to repair the streets afterwards. Why do I think Hegseth will refuse to authorize release of those funds? Oh well, the crack about ‘not throwing down so hard unless your moving,’ followed by ‘wait, does this mean Trump’s moving?’ brought the house down. We should be so lucky.
Lydic then brought in ‘DC Correspondent’ Ronny Chieng and it was a delightful exchange. It points out the idea that with the Army all in one city, DC because Saturday “just happens” to also be Trumpty’s birthday the REST of the United States will be ‘unguarded.’ And Chieng pulls out his cell phone to call Canada to ask them what they’re doing Saturday! I laughed my butt off on that one given all the talk about annexing Canada to be our 51st state. Frankly, at this point I would mind if they did take over much of the U.S. while Generalissimo Trump is wolfing down ‘beautiful chocolate cake’ with countless scoops of ice cream in his reviewing stand!
Well, it’s a fun eight minutes and will as comedic satire should make you laugh and think.

His Fort Bragg crowd was reportedly screened for MAGA types, but it’s disturbing that anyone in uniform would support a guy who dodged the draft and thinks they’re losers. I don’t think Canada wants to be dragged into a civil war, but it will stand ready to provide refuge for Americans who decide to leave.
I learned recently that crisis lines in Canada have been opened up to help Americans who are at the ends of their ropes. It’s like a brother or sister holding out a hand of support for a sibling who’s going through a rough period. Many Canadians have strong ties to family and friends who live in the US, and no batshit crazy dictator is going to break them.
And people thought fragging during Vietnam was terrible. Not if your incompetent asshole leader was clearly marching you into Death. Some traditions need to return. Anyone in uniform today serves a despot, and has ALREADY violated their oaths to the Constitution. FACT. Firing on unarmed citizens is next. You need to decide if fighting for this pissant is worth your honor, indeed, your soul. Stick with this nazi and go to Arlington and take a shit on the graves of heroes. He already has phuckwads.
