How comforting it is to hear from a man with a heart. And how different Barack Obama’s sensibilities are. Today we have the orange blob in the White House and all he can think about are cage fights on the south lawn and insulting the “enemy of the people,” the press, when he’s not busy getting us deeper into some foreign conflict.
Obama, on the other hand, was a man who could stop and smell the roses. He appreciated Americans and he emphathized with the Americans who wrote to him. Take a listen.
As President, I would read 10 letters a day sent to me by ordinary Americans. At the Obama Presidential Center, we’ll have some of the letters I read — and responded to — every night. I still get emotional reading them, and it’s one of my favorite exhibits. pic.twitter.com/8aoxn9CNtT

When Obama was president he represented the heart and soul of this nation. That is what an American president is supposed to do. That kind of sentiment is completely missing from the White House these days. Trump is bored — even with the Middle Eastern war he started — and he can barely stay awake during cabinet meetings.
There is no human touch to this presidency, like we had in the Obama years. It’s merely a hash of incompetence from day to day and excuses from Trump’s sycophants and enablers. Gone is the serene competence of Obama and the heartfelt moments that made us proud to be Americans.
May we get our identity back, what’s left of it, after Trump has embarrassed us to the entire world (and maybe world’s beyond, if they monitor our broadcasts.)
